ya my A4 doesn't go back down to normal idle when im moving either. I think its normal as long as your moving for the rpm's to be slightly higher. I think when you fixed the IAC you fixed the problem. Now take take the battery cable off and leave it unhooked for a whole night and hook it backup in the morning and this will reset your ecm and maybe then your car will act "normal"

dont sweat it, it sounds like its fixed the rpm hanging like that while your moving is entirely normal every gm car that i have ever driven whether it be stick or auto does it same with my lt1 it will hang around 1100-1200 rpm until you completely come to a stop as other people have said dont be worried unless it kills again if not just drive it and let the pcm re-learn and it will run like a top

Okay, drove it some and here is what I found:

Rpms drop slow, but evenly and fast enough for an EFI car with AC off when I wrap it up and then let off/push in the clutch. They drop to 1-1200 until stopped, then 800-850. Normal.

Rpms drop to 2-3000 rpm and "hang" for 3-8 seconds before falling to 1-1200 rpm and then 900-950 when stopped. under the same conditions as above with AC on. Is this normal?

Rpms are at 800 with AC off and 900 with AC on. Normal? Is the 800rpm with AC off what its set at or what? SHould I be 1-150rpm higher with AC on?

No more dying, ect. Everything sounding normal or do I still have some gremlins do you guys think?

PS. I was doing a 2nd gear WOT test behind an S2000 and 1st gear I pulled him in, 2nd gear he seemed to keep the lead (I started from behind at a light). Wierd, I didnt see an FMIC, but he was blowing enough black smoke for it to have been an FI tune. I dont know, odd, *this just a foot note*

GM doesnt have a hotline...so I called ford and asked them about my AC/idle hanging issue and claimed to have a 99 GT and substituted 99GT for Trans Am in my conversation. He said the RPMs hanging for a good while (5-10 seconds) was 100% normal when the AC is on. What do you guys think?

Sounds normal to me. RPM's are going to hang for a variety of reasons including both mechanical and PCM tuning, it's not a bad thing.

Seems like all those freak out threads were over a $100 part...glad you seem to have things fixed.

Another day or so of driving should confirm it though.

I drove it some more, it still hangs a LITTLE with the air on, but not as much, say 3-5 seconds and normally it just comes down slower instead of hanging. Also, my idle rpm has stabalized around 800 air on or off. Seems the PCM is learning the part?

Sounds like it's learing to me.

Did you do the idle relearn proceedure? It's very simple for an '01 M6 car. All you need to do is let the motor warm up to operating temp (176F or higher) and let it idle for 5 mins uninterrupted, then shut it down for 30 seconds and restart. Done.

Hah, I may have done that inadvertantly. It seems to idle much different, the rpms floated around and all of a sudden they dropped to 800 and stay there PERFECTLY. Wierd, I was at a light when this happened. I may do the proceedure you outlined anyways though.

RSX-S is a mean car man, it doesnt take much to put them in the 13's at over 103. I have seen it done several times. One guy did it with: Solid mounts, headgaskets, intake, header, exhaust, removal of back/passenger seats, and KPRO. Ran a 13.7@102 or something like that. I know another guy with a JDM K20A or somehting (10hp more than the regular RSX-S) that had almost identical mods and ran low 13's at 103.XX and had timeslips to prove it. Saw him do it once too. WIth a **** driver the car went 13.9@101.

Yea, your idle etc. all seems normal now (from what you most recently posted). S2000's are *kinda* quick until 2nd or 3rd gear. But anything can happen on the street (however if a stock LS1 gets beat by a stock S2000 the LS1 should continue driving off a cliff)

It wasnt a race, he was in front of me at a light and he took off and I gave chase. I was short shifting and all that, but until 5500rpm in 2nd gear he held me off perfectly (I let out at 5500, had reeled him in in 1st and short shifted to 2nd where he held me off)

HE was definitely modded though. I am curious what he had.

LOL, yeah, but you know what it takes to put an LS1 in the 13s at 103+? A set of keys and a driver!

To each his own man, to each his own.

Personally, I have no use for any sort of asian car. I owned two toyotas and that's all I'll ever own from them. I just don't like them, fast or not. Generally, I'm a GM guy. But I have NO problem at all with Fords, Mopar, even most of the euro cars either. However asian cars do nothing for me. Just preferance I guess.

RSX has the unfortunate problem of being wrong wheel drive as well...

BLKWS6...don't modify this car, if a broken IAC could make you thinking of selling it, I'd hate to think what will happen when you really brake something, or have a flat tire for that matter.
