Default OPTIMA's Dead. 3 year warr. Who to call?

My optima battery will only charge up to ten, then drops to 8. It is an expensive battery so I don't want to fork over more money. It came with the car so I don't know where the previous owner got it from. It has a serial number and I'm thinking about calling places like SEARS auto and pep boys to see if they can look it up and replace it. Any tricks up your sleeves guys??

If you don't have a receipt or proof of purchase with a date on it it might be pretty difficult to get them to warrenty it. How do you know the battery isn't older than 3 years?

I don't. But there are a couple serial numbers on the battery that might help. IMO it's definitely worth a shot before shelling out over a hundred bucks.
