Default Does my 2000 SS have traction control?

Here's a list of the options off the door sticker. I don't see the traction control option NW9 on my sticker. But my car has the ASR button on the dash yet it doesn't light up and the button just pushes in and releases, it doesn't stay clicked on or off. So do I have traction control? I'll test it out tomorrow morning on the way to work to see if the wheels spin)which I know they do but I always push the button thinking I had ASR).

well ive mosly seen non ASR camaros with the dash button non existant. the button hole will have a cover with no writing on it, or no light.

on the passenger side strut tower, do you see a little black box? if you do then you have ASR.

Nope, no black box on the passenger tower. I think I see where it looks like it would be installed. But I definitely have the ASR switch in the dash next to the fog light switch. But it doesn't actually click on/off, it just pushes in and releases and it doesn't light up at all. I guess I have the rare fake ASR option!

That's just weird. I've never seen the switch in a car that didn't actually have it. Maybe someone had it set up for electric cutouts or something?

Nope, it's a mostly stock SS. The SS badge is right next to the ASR switch so maybe that dash panel got mixed up with a car with ASR at SLP when the car was built. So somebody else has traction control with no switch to turn it off! That would suck.

Man, that would really suck! I always turn mine off as soon as I start the car.

I still say e-cutout or, God forbid, neons. Dunno why else it would be there. Have you taken the switch out to see if there are actually wires running to it?

thats the flux capacitor button. or maybe it was the nitrous button contradicting the "traction control" meaning it has.

Just so you know that button may not be defective the ASR button isn't made to stay "Clicked" one way or the other when you push in the right side of the button it de-activates the ASR on a stock car and the light in the button would light up as would a light just to the left of the tachometer that would say "ASR OFF" then when you push the right side again it turns it back on and both lights would go off. My button still functions but the light in the button doesn't light.
All that being said if you don't have that little black piece mounted above the battery then you don't have it any longer, just thought that might clear it up for you in case you would like to put the ASR back in the car.

There's no other sign of ASR ever being on the car and it's not on the RPO doorjamb sticker. The 'ASR' letters do light up when the lights are on so it might be plugged into the stock harness. I'll check it some day when I dig into the dash to disable the automatic headlights.

Maybe the asr switch is to turn on the fans manually. The guy before me used another foglight switch for it. I also have traction control. I have three buttons: Foglights, ASR, & fan control.

Well, I pulled the dash surround section off and the ASR traction control button is plugged into the wiring harness! And I definitely don't have traction control. But my car has the stupid automatic headlights. Is there supposed to be a disable switch for the auto headlights? I thought maybe they put the wrong switch in my car.
