I don't know, but I had a similar recent encounter. Guy I work with is into BMWs. He told me an inline 6 M3 would beet a C5 Corvette. He told me they only made 305hp, then I showed him that famous article about dynoing stock f bodies and vettes. That shut him up pretty quickly.

That's funny! I've been a subscriber to Hot Rod for years, and I don't remember seeing that article. I'll have to dig my copy out.

 

I need to start carrying that article around. I was on a ski trip and was talking to a guy about cars, my friend has an M6 SS and the other guy is like "what do you drive" .. I say "a TA" he goes "WS6?" ..."nope"... "manual?" ... "nope"..."oh ". People underrate my car like crazy!!!!

Looks to me like he was arguing with some guy who owns a VW that seemed to be trying to tell him the vette and F-bodies do not have the same motor or atleast that it was a "detuned version"

 

I quote that article like the bible LOL. I have posted that on MANY forums when toolbags try to say how much better the Vette "version" is lol. I also love trying to explain to people that my lowly Z28 is the same damn thing as the all high and mighty mythical creature they call the SS.
