So I'm still looking for the perfect T/A but in the mean time I had a question.
My final plan is to end up with a built motor and some kind of FI that I'm undecided on yet. My question is why do people go to an iron block when I heard that the ls1 aluminium blocks can handle over 900hp? (Wrong information possibly?) And if i could get some websites that have examples of Iron blocks, prices etc it would be great. Any more info on the subject would be great thanks in advanced.

The stock will handle it but not as well or as long. There are a lot of pro's and cons between the two blocks. Look in the forced induction section and do a search and you will get some answers.

I just did a search and glanced through quite a few threads and it looks to me that most people are on the fence. Some say LS2 blocks or numerous Iron blocks. Any buddy else have an idea? Mainly with reliablity. Another cncern of mine was the extra 80+ pounds on the nose of the car. But what do you all think?

I was for sure going to go forged internals and all the other necessary things you need to get. But still Id love to stay with the stock block (mainly expense reasons) but There's no point in dumping money into a motor that's never going to last right?

I hear the stock block handles 700-800hp then splits, not to mention the problem with ringland number7. If your'e gonna have your engine out to get forged internals anyway, might as well opt for a forged 347

BTW, the new uber beefy Warlock and Dart alloy blocks have enough material/strength to hold up to massive amounts of boost, probably for as long as any of the current iron blocks, BUT they are MUCHO dinero.
