I don't trust those "acid mats" some people run to avoid this (and surrounding metal damage) enough to risk running a wet cell battery.

If the car sits or of it's dedicated audio battery, get yellow. Otherwise, red is fine.
The extra 40 bucks you spend on an Optima will likely save you a tow truck visit or two. Also, your stock battery is leaking, go check it, and clean up the acid damage.
Optima or nuttin'.

Thanks for the feedback guys, Spazman you said you got yur optima from sams for 90 bucks? If I can get that deal, I will take it. I like how optima's don't leak, and if they do, the gel will leak more slowly so you will notice it before it does damage.

I've always been very happy with the AC Delco Professional series batteries. In my experiance they will last 6+ years easy. The one in my Bonneville is going on 6 years and it's still strong as hell. ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
Also, I've had the Delco Professionals in many cars for a long time. Never had one leak.

Buy your Optima at Autozone and get a lifetime warranty on it like I did...and it only cost me like $110 to buy it anyways.
Only reason I have an optima over any die hard or whatever other battery is I've never seen an optima leak acid and corrode the car (my stock AC Delco in my truck did just that when the positive battery terminal came right out the side of the battery...I had to replace the tray to make sure it wouldn't be an issue). If the gel leaks from an Optima I'd be very surprised AND I'd find it a lot easier to clean up as there's no way it can be as runny as battery acid.
AC Delco batteries suck, the professional series might be better, but stock AC Delco's are trash, I've seen the positive terminal coming out of the battery terminal thing happen on numerous occassions.
Only think I don't like about having an optima in my truck (2002 2500HD), is you can see its bright yellow top when you are standing next to the truck and looking in at the seam between the hood and fender...guess I'll cut a billet aluminum cover on the CNC and have it anodized black or something.
