Default in a bind

well im tied between a decision, trade in my car for an 05 GTO, or 00-02 SS. the GTO would be a great choice, but 400 a month plus full coverage would kill it. i dont know if the GTO is more expensive to insure than the SS. i found a few SS's for 10-12k, so with the 4k from my car i can get it down more. but i do like the idea of the GTO because thats what i plan on having for a long time as my daily driver/family car for the future.

or i can keep this and mod it with the money i would be using to pay off the SS or GTO.

When I got my new z28 I sold my old one and bought my new one. If I were you i'd go with an SS. They hold their value alot better then a gto. With the extra change you'd save on buying the SS you could buy an even better family car later on then the gto and you'd still have your dedicated sports car.

Either keep your current car and mod it, or get the SS. I think a Camaro is a more fun "toy" than a GTO, IMO. And the GTO isn't much of a family car, IMO. Small trunk, difficult access to the back seat.

I'd look at getting something more like a Trailblazer SS as a 'family car' if I needed one.

Man you just answered your own question right here then. If it's your dream car, why not hold out till you get it? You're not going to be happy with anything else if the GTO is what you really want.

Because we all know what dream cars do...

J/k, why dont you hold out a while longer, save up, and go with a NEW! camaro? Be the first one on LS1tech with one

Go for it. Sounds like a good plan. By the time you get some more cash saved up, GTO prices will be falling.

Personally I'll be holding out for the new Camaro. I want a new silver 5th gen to match my silver 4th gen and keep it company.

Those that have purchased a GTO for the same reasoning you have posted say they regretted it. Main reason: getting anyone including children or child seats from the back is far more tight than the way an SS is laid out for access and room.

Just observations...

Yes please don't get a 04 GTO. Save up and get a 05-06 and don't mod your car anymore. I was on the verge of going to get a 06 GTO a few weeks ago. Around here in NJ they are giving the new models away that sit around while C6's and new Mustang GT's are everywhere. I love the 05-06 GTO and especially the interior but i know im going to get a 09 Camaro so i'm just going to wait and save. Why don't you do a insurance rate quote online to see the exact amount per month you will have to pay?
