I would keep the SS and buy the Charger as well, if I were you, since you like them both.
But since I'm not you, if it were me, I'd rather have the SS.

personally, i would never own one. they are HUGE. i've sat in them and road in them, it makes my F-body seem like a compact sports car. i think they are ugly too. but thats me. also, 425 hp + 4200lbs = not really all that fast. i'd assume an intake and exhaust f-body could take one down. kinda sad for something marketed as a bad big *** 425 hp car...
and just so you all dont think i'm some chevy loving hick.... lol. yes, i concide there are many advantages to buying a new car. yes, the srt-8 probably is overall better made then the f-body, rides nicer, warrenty, ext.... i know. but, to me looks and function are more important. if i want a fast, sporty car, i want it to look good, and be... fast.
so do what you want, if it were me, i'd never be happy w/ a srt-8, and i'd regret selling that SS.

go ahead and take a one for a test drive, but when you do make sure your SS takes you to the dealership and I'm sure you'll know without a dout which one is badder.
P.S. Hopefully you think it's the SS

I drove my buddies hemi charger and was not impressed at all. Since it has similiar horsepower to my ta I figured it would scoot the same. But as soon as I put my foot down I came to the realization that it is a big heavy car. It ran ok and is a comfortable 4 door car, but nowhere near as fun as the ta.

i agree keep the SS!! no doubt. but those chargers are really growing on me though. and yur talking bout the srt8 man. those things are nice. it would be a nice family car also. i would keep the SS and try to get the charger.. especially a black charger!!

I would do it i think they are too much of a familiy car. I guess look at gto's if you want to get into something newer i like those much more. 6speeds are what its all about not auto shift ****.

I would not take a Mopar if it was given to me! I like them, their look, and their performance, but in 6 months, your 01 SS will be worth more than that SRT8.
Ask ANYONE in the car business, and they will tell you a Chrysler car isn't worth the metal it's stamped out of. I have seen 1 year old Durangos $20-22k upside down for trade. I recently talked to a guy who bought an 2007 SRT8 300c with 430 miles on it for $34k. The first guy bought it NEW for $46k, his wife hated it, and made him trade it 3 days later, and this guy bought it for $34k (which means the first guy got MAYBE $31k trade) Fast forward 6 weeks and 800 miles, and the second guy's wife hates it too. The car was now worth $25k trade. So, there you have it, 7 weeks, 1200 miles, and you have lost 40%+ value. NO OTHER car, EVEN KIA, does this. It is the same across the board for ALL Chryrsler vehicles. (except Viper, and that's because of the market, not the value of the vehicle) SRT10 Rams are just as bad, they lose about 50% in the first 12-18 months or more. Aand I run away when I see someone roll up in a Ram truck trying to trade it in.
Everyone always says "that doesn't matter, since I don't plan on selling it anyway" The trade/resale value is indicitive of the overall value of the car. If you pay $40k for a car, and 1-2 years later, it's 'worth' $20k, was it ever really a $40k to begin with?
Just some food for thought...
rant off LOL
