Thumbs up First time in an LS1!!

I finally got to drive an ls1 for the first time today! After hearing so many people say how they were disspointed going from an lt1 to an ls1, i was scared i would be too, but not at all. The ls1 revved so much quicker than my car, and the power seemed endless. Im hooked!!

Also on a side note, the car was 00 Firehawk, the body was actually kinda ruff, several paint chips, missing metal showing through on the dividing bar for the t-tops and such, it has 131,000 miles. A4 with all options except chrome rims, it has white matching rims, but they are chipping and need repainted too. The car has intake, hooker muffler, and a NOS kit hooked up, so im sure it has been ran hard. He wants $7,995 plus my car which he'll give me $3,000 for. Now this is way to much, so what would you appraise a Firehawk in less than average shape at? No experiance with them, and i wasnt looking for one, but just found one. And i hope to join my LS1 brethren soon!!

Well im not looking to spend 10k. My buddy told me this dealer has had the car for a while, and he dropped the price 5,000 dollars real quick on me. If he would sell it for $7,000 i would buy it, since it is confirmed a firehawk, 1 of 60 in white that year. but i doubt he will. Im just happy to be looking at ls1!!

Oh and there has been more than one post on here and cz28.com about ppl goin from lt1s to ls1's and not being impressed. But dont worry, im not one.

theres no way that id buy that...i saw a 99 nbm m6 formula with a tad over 100 k on it and it looked damn good he only wanted like 9 for it or something...id consider it but ive got a friend that has one and it looks identical minus his is a ta so its got a different front bumper and wing and theres so many nbm f bodies running around my town so the cops take a second look at them...you should look at the vehicles for sale on this site you will see alot of damn good deals...good luck and i hope you find yourself a good ls1...

You can do better, especially if you would settle for a Z28 or non-“ram-air” TA or Formula.

I remember the first time I got to drive an LS1. It was June of 1999, and I drove a brand new '99 Pewter Z28. It was an A4 with 3.23 gears. At the time I still had an '89 Formula 350 with 110K miles and very minor bolt-ons, which was a 14.5 car. On the test drive I punched it at 25mph (great spot for a downshift to 1st in a 3.23 car) with the ASR off and it busted the stock RSAs loose. Felt pretty quick at the time, but I'd already been in my share of 11-12 second cars before so it wasn't that big of a shock to me. I ended up buying that car a few weeks later. Then sold it the next year to buy my WS6.

These days, after going for plenty of street blasts in cars that trap 130mph and run 10s or better, a stock LS1 doesn't even feel quick to me anymore.

I have had one of each over the past couple years. I do love the Lt1 due to the fact its the car that made me fall in love with 4th gens, sounds a million times better, front end on the Camaro looks better than a LS1 Z and thats about it. I sold my old last 2 LT1's to get the 2 LS1's i have now and i wouldn't look back

LS1's can take alot of abuse. I personally wouldn't buy that hawk due to the NOS and mileage. My TA has 134,000 on it and put down 332hp to the wheels

lol well I've owned two 3rd gens in the past, so I guess I'm biased towards older cars. The LT1 has a few more mods than the LS1, and is an M6 compared to the A4 of the LS1...which I can't stand. I know the LS1 is a better and more efficient engine, but I don't like how smooth it is compared to the LT1. They're about the same speed in the quarter right now, although I have a complete nitrous kit for the LT1 sitting here

That's actually a very impressive time for an LT1 'vert with a couple bolt-ons.

Thanks That was my first time at the track with a 2.18 60', and both 02s bad lol. I think the car has an easy real low 13, possibly high twelve pass in it n/a.

Not sure what sort of gears you have, but you should be able to wittle that 60 down to a 1.9-2.0 with some pratice even with street tires.

I think very low 13s are a definite possibility without any further mods....just pratice.
