Default "Corvette engines..."

i figured i would do a little ranting and raving.... i hear about this just about everytime someone that isnt too big into cars start talking about their camaro/firebird...."I've got a Corvette engine in my car..." i turn around and ask what they have done with it....they always reply its stock...it comes from the factory with a corvette engine.....unless they pull the engine out of a corvette and place it in their car...its not from a corvette...yes they are the same kind but its not a corvette motor.....anyone feel my pain???

Most people believe that a corevette is the invincible machine. When you say that you have the same motor or your motor came from a corvette it sets them back down into reality

Yeah the Corvette has a heck of a good reputation for being fast.

People claim their car has a Corvette engine to help market their vehicle sale.

I guess in a literal sense you are correct. What they are most likely saying is that the Fbody uses the exact same motor that the corvette uses (minus the Z06), an LS1. Most likely because people who do not know Fbodys and Vettes tend to put the Corvette on a pedestual and assume that no other car is in its league.

I hate getting asked if my car has a corvette engine. I just tell people that its the same motor the corvette has.

Correct, 1997 it was only in the Vettes. GM has been known to put the newest Corvette motors into the Fbodies the following model year after its introduced in the Vette.

Afriend of mine from work insisted that the engine in my Camaro was not as good as the Corvette LS1. So I pointed out a few threads on here about how they arre the same engine save for a tiny bit more cam in the vette, and I mean tiny. So he belived me. Oh yeah, he went to UTI... Thats where he says he found out the cam, heads,, tune, and valves were different.

It's the Gen III small-block Chevy motor...no matter how you slice it.

Another one is the SS motor has something special done to it that makes it better than the Z28. I tried to impart some wisdom on a salesman who tried that on me, I dont think it did any good though. lol
