i played around with one on my way home from the track one night....i was on the highway doin around 60-65 and we jumped on it til around 130 and he stayed around 1-2 cars back the whole time. then we came up on a very bad turn and a steep hill so i lifted and he gave me the ol' ricer fly by. i dont have that much done to my car yet so i dont know if the person could drive. maybe the 2.73 gears just helped me out for once in my life hahahha

I own an evo and a stroked out LS2/RX7. My evo feels like a civic after driving my RX7 but from a stop my evo would leave about 5 car lengths on me. Mainly because I have no traction right now in the RX7.

Not that I'm adding anything that hasn't been said, but yeah a stock Evo will run low low 13s, and high 12s with a good driver. Stock for stock in a standing 1/4 mile race the LS1 will lose. From a higher-speed roll the LS1 may edge out the Evo but I'm not sure. I think Evos make around 260awhp and weigh a few hundred lbs less than an LS1 which makes ~290-300rwhp. Really close numbers when the weight is considered. I can't remember what Evos trap stock in the 1/4...

For all the people saying "well if you just add some mods to your LS1 then you will walk all over an Evo" then you might as well say "if you throw a boost controller on the Evo it will match that LS1 again". You can't start talking about mods, honestly. Of course someone can mod a car to make it faster than the other, but then the other car can do it right back, so it's not a valid argument.

But you can always live knowing that you're in a much better looking car I absolutely cannot stand the exteriors of the Evo or STi. They are 4-door boxes with huge wings on the back--if the same spoilers were on a Civic people would cry "RICE!" but since they're stock on the Evo/STi they're "just fine!"

stock for stock.. the Evo will win... how do i know.. my best friend and next door neighbor owns an Evo 8 and the new Evo 9 MR... fast.. fast fast.. he also ownes a dyno shop and i am always down there with him tuning and running #'s

the Evo 9 MR has gears A LOT higher than our cars are.. my 3rd gear is like his 4th gear.. from a 50mph roll.. me in 3rd.. he in 4th.. we pull dead even.. until we both shift then he walks me in the evo 9...

he has 310awhp on 22lbs of boost (stock is 19).. which just intales a titanium catback, and a japanes map tune...

stock evo 9 will put down about 245awhp... we calculate they have 26% drive train loss.

from a dig.. they are hard to launch.. tricky is a better word.. but once they are in 2nd and start pulling.. you better have some serious HP.. i am at 325rwhp.. and i have 4.11's in the rear.. my car is always in top condition... (with is with his 310awhp)...

so just be forwarned.. they are not slow cars by any means.. they pull hard, and probably top out around 140mph.. but from 30-80mph these things are leathal..

That makes no sense b/c if his car has a catback and is tuned to have higher boost its not stock.... if it puts 245 down stock how is that going to beat a 310 HP car from a roll? track it would be close b/c of different variables

245 hp stock? 26% drivetrain loss. I don't even want to try and tell this to the guy I work with. He insists that he only looses about 8-12%. I am not saying I don't believe you, I'm just wondering how I would try to tell him that.

To add my experience. I raced an Evo8 from a roll with my Lt1 w/ intake and exhaust and was able to chase it down and pass it at around 100. We started at about 40. Im pretty sure the Evo was bone stock and I know he was on it for all it had. The look on the kids face was priceless as I flew past him.

Here's my opinion and it has nothing to do with which is faster:

An LS1 Camaro or Firebird is like a hot chick with a bangin' body that is incredible in bed. An evo is like the flat chested nerdy chick that's just as good in bed, you just don't want any of your friends to know you're bangin' her!

i have ran an evo and a sti on the street before my cam and spray, the sti gave me a better run for my money. It will get you out of the the whole but mid way through 2nd gear/ going into third you should pass them if you are not having horrible traction issues

Another thing to consider. Evos come stock with FI, maros don't. To me FI is in a different catagory than NA. JMO though.

i raced a sti at the track and i ran a 13.5 stock and he ran a high 13. i think around a 13.9 or something like that. sti are close 2 what a evo would run.

when i was at the track the evos were walking all over the STIs. in that pic that i posted, i ran a 13.70 (high humidity) and that evo ran a 12.65, but he left more than a second later than me. i thought i won until i saw the slip, damn it.

yea, that day i was there evos were running in the mid 12s, stis were running mid to high 13s, and F-bodies (stock) were running high 13s to low 14s. GTOs were running no better than low 14s.

I beat a modded evo by 9 cars. He had upgraded turbo, intercooler, tune, cat-back. I have heads, cam, supporting mods, and a 200shot. I didnt get to spray but the guy was a crappy driver. He broke his clutch on the 2nd run from a dig.
