Default Switched to GC over M1. 1st ride review

Ok I just swapped the ol M1 out and put in the GC. I have to say I wasnt to happy at start up with all the valvetrain noise. After it warmed up it quieted down but there is def more valvetrain noise than with M1 at idle. It seemed to change the exhaust note too with neutral revs. Oh well whats a lil valvetrain noise if its gonna protect better.

After about 500 miles it will quiet down, another oil change and it should be better, GC takes about 3-500 miles to quiet down. Why? Let me go get my 8-ball...

I too switched about 6 months ago and it quieted down mine and protects better so its a win win situation. Try AutoZone, they all have it around here.

Yup. all the new bottles read European formula on the front. On the back it will say Made in Germany. The fake ones say made in north america, or something like that, on the back

Which weight M1 oil?

GC is supposed to be pretty good oil for the LS1, but I'm perfectly happy with using M1 0W40.

That's the only M1 I'd use.

Yep. GC sure did silenced down my valvetrain. My car revs a little happier too compare to Quaker State Syn.

That's not a very good buy if you can get it locally. It would be $50($9.99 for shipping) once it arrives, so about $8.33 or so per quart.

i jsut put in the M1 extended life....trying that out not that im gonna hold out that long before an oil change ill do it a 3k like i normally do but can someone please explain as to why GC would be noisey at first and then quiet down after a few hundred miles? also is this "quiet down" equal to no valvetrain noise or like the average noise our ls1s make with M1? cause i have a slight tick everyso often mainly when my next oil change is near and it does get annoying. i just want better protection with less noise so is GC good for that?

i didnt like all the noise with the GC. mobil 1 5w40 was impossible to find for a while, so i put in redline 40w race oil.
car is very quiet compared to the Mobil1, GC, 5w40 syntec, and regular cheap oil.

Changed to GC 2k miles ago (coming up on another change soon, been a touch over 3 months), and just recently I'm hearing what seems to be a sewing machine from my valvetrain... or maybe it's just the HVAC going (had the heat on while listening from outside the car). I had no noise at first, but just recently. Is that my car telling me it's time for some fresh oil ?

my truck does that as well, and its usually 5-600 miles overdue.
damn lsx motors.
either its common, or we are in the same boat of hearing weird noises.
