I dunno thats a good thought tho! here in Albuquerque New Mexico stock LS1's run mostly low 14's from what i have seen, whats up with that! ive always thought it was our horrible elevation?? i have a 2002 A4 Camaro SS that i got in AUG of 06, went to the track my very first time later that week, i will admit i had no idea WTF i was doing! lol but i ran a best 14.4? i know i could do a ton better now that i have more of an idea of whats going on at the track, but any one from ALB here have any input on this?

My friend's best run was a very low 13.6 (98 Z28 A4) with a lid and catback. But too the cars credit it has flowmasters which gain no power, has 11inch wheels in the back (lots of rotating mass), he runs it on regular so its pulling timing, and he weighs in the high 200's himself.

Now its got a full exhaust LT's included and a higher stall converter but this is on a different engine plus his rear is on legging right now so we will see what it can do when it gets fixed.

but still it was consistent for 13.7's all night long even on hot humid summer days only saw it run 14's on the 1st night he raced it.

Mines factory average I think. 13.5's with 2.2 60's Might be able to squeak out a 13.2-3 stock but no better.

My friend Chris's ex-girlfirend had a 99 T/A auto that never went better than 13.9@100.

My 00 Z28 A4 went 13.40@105, and my freind Rob's 01 SS went 13.3@106.

As for a freak car, my friend Jason with headers, lid, dump, and HP Tuners, went 12.2@114 on M/T Drag Radials on a 3400 launch.

That Sux, my stock Lt1 ran a 14.1. My stock LS1 went 13.6 with a terrible launch. Just keep on trying your launhes, you'll get a 13* time slip I promise.

Where are you located.... Alot of it is conditions not just the car. and what kinda 60 ft are you pulling off? And it your car up to maintance? All those have factors that can cause slower times

The previous owner of my car went a 13.80 bone stock at 101 and I guess 2 years ago with almost all mods went 13.20s at 105 and still seems kinda slow but i have yet to take it. Im going to go this year and make a pass or 2 and see what iot really does also he went the 13.20 on street tires I now have the drag radials for the converter

IMO, there are no such things as factory freaks.
It's usually the driver that is a freak or a retard.

sorry didint mean to HIJACK...

It is the elevation, most 99+ mustang GT's will run 15's up here too. Most of the 05-06's will run low 15's, high 14's. Probably better with a good driver Stock I ran 14.3 as a best, so your time seems about right. The DA will sit anywhere between 6k (on a really really good night) to upwards for 8-9k during the summer. So your time is pretty good considering you ran in the middle of the summer at what was probably 8000ft DA.

In general, cars run about a second slower here than they would at a nice day at sea level.

To the thread starter, I think a lot of it is conditions, the track DA can make a difference of a few tenths depending on the night, and the driver makes a huge difference too. I don't think anyone has come on here saying that their car is slower than it should be from the factory. Usually that would mean something is probably wrong with it (needs a tuneup, etc). Unless it was brand new off the showroom floor.

Look at the elevation or DA of tracks that people say are the best, or where the best times are consistantly run, those tracks dip into the negative DA a lot.

A lot of factors play a part in the times your car will run.........traction, driver's ability, track elevation, etc etc. Since you don't list your mods in your sig I'm not going to comment on how much potential they could play in increasing the performance of your car.

I don't really believe in "factory freaks" but I'm not going to argue that there definitely can be a slight difference in performance based on how tight the tolerances might have been held on one car vs. another....but they will be minimal at best.
