I personally don't have An LS anything but I read in motortrend that WOT short shifting (under 2500 RPM) can help improve fuel milage by a few MPG in the city. the theory is that it reduces pumping losses by running the engine under a low vacuum situation and you accelerate to speed so much faster than normal that you actually make up gas milage.

man i must not have enough mods yet i get 24 around town and 31 on highway with cruise
oh yeah i try to use cruise in town when ever possible consistancy is key
1-3-5-6 under 2400rpm seems to work well for me
I average 430 on highway 320 in town taking it easy and 180-220 with my foot in it
