Just wondering,pistonslap.com makes a huge issue over piston slap.Has anyone one here ever torn apart an engine after say 100k that had a piston slap and if so what kind of wear did you see?????????

from what i have seen, ls1's are prone to piston slap when they are first started up. just how they were built. neither of my camaro's are near the 100k mile mark though so i dont know when they get that high in the mileage. my only have 38k and 52k.

I have a friend who tore one down that slapped BAD! at 6X,XXXK (he got it from a junk yard or other source that sold motors and they told him it had that much on it.). He said it would slap like a bitch. Anyways, tore it down and did heads/cam and made 428whp.
Oh...the walls looked mint, could see crosshash and everything according to him.

My car has been slapping since I had it, 10k miles later it still does it. Previous owner said it did it too but they were never sure what it was (didn't care to find out I guess). I'm about to break the 60k mark and play to do mild motor work later and guess will have a better understanding then possibly. I can't imagine it gets worse as the car nears 100k + but I can't say from experience obviously.

EDIT: Saw you sold it. Well, old habits die hard. Try showing the SS the place where the mustang used to be so it can understand there is no need to poke fun anymore.

49,XXX miles, and never any problem with piston slap. My mom even owns a mustang (not a GT though). So BLKWS.6, that shoots your theory full of holes... lol. I've always wondered if the reason I haven't noticed it is that I baby my car like crazy until I hit operating temp.

Mine has 26,XXXmi and it doesn't matter if I baby it or not. It slaps the whole time it operates. I swear if it doesn't give me 80k mi before it goes I'm going to take a piston on a plane ride and slap every GM executive in Detroit with it.
On a side note, there are a ton of mustangs around.
