The vette does weigh a little less, and the aerodynamics are a little better, but nothing drastic. You won't see much difference between the two (trans type for trans type and model year for model year) until well past 100mph, probably more like 120+ mph.
If he pulled you hard at lower speeds, the car was probably modded.

Third gear instant pull sounds like he could be spraying.........
He shouldn't have pulled you THAT hard, stock. In my old T/A in almost stock form I could hang with/outdrive folks in Corvettes.

I think the vette engines have about 9* more timing than a F-body from 01 and 02. When the LS6 intake was added, timing was cut to 19* on the F-bodies and stayed at 28* on the vettes if i'm not mistaken.

it's a really bad idea to look at every car on the road and assume it's stock.
that old "oh, that's just an lt1, i'll smoke him" mentality
they're not always stock, chances are he wasn't.

yeah...most people who say its stock are probably lying. I tell everyone my Grand National is stock...that story lasted about 2 weeks and I thumped some guy in a 03 turbo 911 around town here and word got out pretty quick at the next car show.
