I work at Checker auto parts and these are my top 3 questions from people that are supposed to be car guys.

1. Is it a 5.7?
2. Is that your camaro out there?
3. Is that your corvette out there?

Runner up: My son/bro/roomate has a 3000GT just like that one

I thought it was called a "Firechicken"! At least that's what my buddy has for a license plate on his WS6 T/A (FIRCHKN).

On the other hand I don't have a Camero, it's a Camaro. And it's not a unless it's a 3rd gen (I've got one of those also).

Btw, Here's an instant recognition guide to Firebirds: Side to side front turn signals/marker lights and small spoiler on the tail it's a Formula. Stacked turn signals/marker lights and big spoiler on the tail it's a T/A.

Don't know how many times I've had people tell me my Z28 is a V6. Or tell me that its way slower than a 6 speed or an SS. Or the old hill-rod, damn computters and fuel injeaction, it needs a carb rednecks ask me if it has the 305. I love telling them the last time you could get a 305 was in 1992, makes them look like an out of touch moron.

Damn....I wish I got those kinds of comments.

All I ever get is snubbed at by Corvette owners. At lights, on the highway, in parking lots, even where I work.

"At least it's a Chevy....." is the comment I hear most.

I think it was worse when I had my 94 Z28 A4 and people would look at my car and tell me I had a sweet car and it must be fast...then they would look inside and see it was an automatic, and would then say.."Oh..nevermind, its just an automatic" I wanted to smack them..

Or when I had my 99 Trans Am...people would go around to the back to look for the WS.6 badge, and when they didn't find one they would say, "oh it's not even a WS.6, you should have got a WS.6 they are way faster...or some stupid comment in that nature.

Even a WS.6 owner asked me if I had a WS.6, and I told him no, Just a Trans Am, and he was like, man I would smoke you then...oh ya he puts 87 octane fuel in his too..lol, you think people would know something about there car if they drive one and when they act like they ACTUALLY know everything about cars..they just look like complete fools when they speak.

Another LS1 WS.6 owner in his 40's it looked like, was looking at my car with the hood open and said, since that isn't like mine and isn't a WS.6 does it have a V8?

But yes, I had my T/A called a camaro several times, I simply corrected them and it was no big deal...I had lots of problems when telling people I had a Trans Am and they would be like, what is that?

I once had a German security guard ask me if my Z/28 was a French car!!

The Emblem had him all jacked up. Silly Germans...

Big difference:

I should have told him that it was Serbian!!

I must say im always amazed at how many people dont know what kind of car it is. Really shows the lack of advertising on gm's part.... The most common question i get is "what kind of car is it?" And i dont care if people call it a camaro, thats what it is, but i do correct them if they say nice SS.

and for the firebird people, id imagine its rare if people actually call it by its designation. I will usually just call them firebirds, i prolly couldnt tell the difference between a formula, t/a, ws6, firehawk without the badging on the side. There too many different options goin on, lol

I think i may have all of u beat. Get a GTO and have to put up with "is that your mustang?" that has to be the worse. the other ones i get are grand am or grand prix
so getting your ta called a camaro isnt that bad.

I really never had to many mistakes when i had my ws6.

I stopped at the Chevy dealer the other day to take a look at a C6. While talking to the salesman the conversation turned toward my "Firebird/Transam/WS6". The salesman said "I used to have one of those....what year is it?" I said a 2002.....then he said "mine was a 2004" I was like really a 2004 and he said "YEP". I was like that's funny cause 2002 was the last year for them, then got in my car and left. The guy should be transferred to a Kia dealer.

First off all of the Pontiacs are called Firebirds, ie Firebird Trans Am or Firebird Formula. Second if you don't want to be called a WS6 don't try to look like one.

I don't look like one.... I have firehawk rims and a SLP HO hood. As an anology... does an UltraZ camaro look like an SS?

I have only had my car called a Trans Am once. I always get people asking me if it's an SS while staring straight at my hood. Now yes, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt about not knowing there is a different hood and all, but sometimes I will say yes just to be a jackass. Most of the time, people follow up with, "Well how come you don't have the SS hood?" Why in the hell would they even ask then?

What gets me is when you tell people you have a Trans Am, and they say,

"yeah, I got a Z back in the garage."

"a Z28?"

"No, a 300ZX" or 350Z, or 280Z, whatever.

I get my TA called a Camaro all the time. It doens't really bother me unless people say it on purpose. But I just call my TA my "bird" or my TA.

It's funny when people tell my buddy (who drives a Z28) after a race "oh man, that was a close race, I'm glad you don't have an SS or you would have humiliated me!"

I just want to grab them by the throat and scream "THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE SUSPENSION, BADGES, AND THE HOOD!!!"

My buddy always calls my car a Mustang. I've tried to correct him numerous times, but can't get it through his thick skull. I just gave up on it.

My '69 Camaro has been called a Mustang and Corvette.

This chick jumped in to take a ride and said, "is this like the Dukes of Hazzard car?".
