so are you saying to fill it up to the brim and then drive until you run out of gas in order to actually see how many miles you get to the tank??

i'd get alot more if this were in effect
George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline

I'm sure that there is something wrong with this plan but...

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop
using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would
be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come
down.

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the border. When they catch an
illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and
some ammo and ship him to Iraq. Tell him if he wants to come to America
then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier's pay
while he's there and tax him on it.

After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended
this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal
patriot.

This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a
solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better
life for themselves. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway,
without the canteen, rifle or ammo.

Problem solved.

There has been some confusement...on my part. I have always had an lt1 and I know they hold 15.5 gallons of gas...but I never thought to check if ls1 was diff....it is ..and holds 16.8.... So no I dont doubt one bit you could achieve 250 on one FULL tank...but I still call bs on 300 and up..in CITY. Purely said..these cars get around 15mpg without a heavy foot....that is no where near what people these days recognize as GOOD GAS MILEAGE. It may be good to YOU..but its really not good...

I know you will compare it to "well its good FOR A V8 blah blah.." but its just not good...and yes I know "Thats what you risk for having a ls1, or a nice car, or blah blah" so save your comments.

If you do decide to say its good for a v8...well Ill say that there are hybrids out there now with 275 hp v6 and still get 40 mpg rated...so about 35 in city...NOW THATS A GOOD POWER=GAS MILEAGE RATIO!!!

Ok Im on it .

The95Z....Ah LT1 eh. Its all good. I thought about that when I saw your user name but there are alot of people on here that have newer cars with their older names. Anyways, its an engine (LS1) probably designed in 1995 to 1996 because it was put on the Vette in 97 fbodys in 98. For those years on my window sticker from the car off the lott it said you will see your epa being anywhere from pretty much 18-30 mpg. My Rpms at 70 are at about 1500 Rpm in 6th gear. So what Im getting at is you said about these hybrids getting that good of milage which they are....but for the technology of the type of engine an LS1 is, I would say that it is great power and technology. I would say our ratio is amazing, and the LS2's WOW, now thats egineering.

I fill up once a week if i get lucky. I usually put in 10 gallons. Which runs me $30-32. Then I get roughly 150-180 miles before it gets low enough to where I stop to put in another 10 gallons. Its depressing. But hella fun
