my car will barely spin it's 245's (summitomo HTR+) without powerbraking it. I thought it was weak and tired until it layed down 13.5's and 13.6's all night dead hooking. I can flat foot it outta the hole, it just goes.
My old Z28 burned them forever and it was kinda fun but cost me a lot of races, this one wins races but bugs the hell outta me that I can't do a 200ft smoky!
I want my cake and eat it, too.

Yea my 2.73 A4 LS1 has a problem lighting them from a dead stop, especially now that i bolted on 275s out back. When I was getting rid of my 255s I tried to light them and it would just do the chirp with the shimmy/vibrate thing and go, but if I was on a hill and let it roll back it would create a smoke show. They are fun if you know how to drive them, but i hate my 2.73s and I dont want to sacrifice gas mileage at this point.

I don't know what's up with you other 2.73 geared guys.
I've got nothing for power mods on this car other than a catback & lid. Stock 2.73s, stock TC. I'm on 2,000 mile old 275/40/17 BFG KDW tires. If I hammer it from a dead stop, they will spin enough for the rear to kick out just a bit and there will be some squealing (no smoke or anything though). If I stall it up to as far as the brakes will hold the stock TC (somewhere around 1200rpm) and floor it, they'll spin for quite a while with the rear end swaying out some as well.
I usually do this stuff at night though once the sun goes down, so maybe it's just the cooler ground. You guys getting full traction, are you doing this on hot days with full sun warming the pavement?
My 2.73 car must be a freak.

I have 3:23's. When I bought the car it had old Goodyear RSA's, it would smoke those all the way into second and then some. If I hammered it at 20 it would slam into first and walk sideways.
Won't hardly turn the new tires at all. And it is usually at daytime. Doesn't burn them much better at night, just runs a little better cause it's cooler. Has a lot to do with tires and condition of rear suspension, I guess.

My 02 with 2.73's would spin them pretty good when it was all stock. Now I can hit it at 39 or less and get some spin. From a stop the back end fish tails back and forth down the road for awhile before it finally hooks up. I got brand new BFG KDW's and am about to look for something stickier but am debating whether I want bigger wheels. The lid and PTB made a huge difference on my car though. The catback not as much on the low end but more noticeable on the top end.

I can kick mine sideways or at least spin from pretty much anywhere under 30 in 1st. The only mods I have is a lid, shift kit, and exhaust. I have KYB shocks with 315 BFG KDs on the back.

well i bought it today. if i powerbreak it a little to get them rollin, then let off the brake, it takes off spinning, just not from a dead stop without bringing it up on the 'verter. i found out it still has the origional plugs n wires! tuning it up tonight and going for a ride.

well he did say it was from a 5 mph roll, and thats the bottom of 1st gear so it has to work its way up to the power band, i can see it not spinning. Also you may have had ASR on(if its a camaro) that is up to the right of the running lights, above the stereo(atleast it is on my car).
