I tried to search. Could someone post a link to a thread on the type of oil and gas (octane rating) I should use on my stock ls1

Premium gas(91 or 93 octane, whichever you have locally), oil is a personal preference. Most say Mobil 1 recommended by the factory is too thin. Patman seems to know quite a bit about oil, maybe do a search for his name.

93 octane shell v-power for me, everytime.

Will it hurt the car to put less than 93 or 91 octane? If so, why? Thanks for the input guys, I'm such a newb

will it hurt the car? no. It's is designed to run on lower octane for emergency. Knock sensor pulls timing and richens fuel flow.

will it hurt performance? yes 10.1 to 1 compression ratio creates too much heat during compression stroke to not start burning before the piston reaches tdc. This is knock.

93 octane and Mobil 1 5-30 for me and most of the guys I know. Some guys run 10-30 but Mobil 1 either way.
