I figure you're only young once, no need to be tied down by a woman. You can always do that later. ALL my friends are "car guys" but guess what - they all moan about how they wish they could have a fast/nice car.
I tell 'em ditch the dead weight!!

Plan out exactly what you want to do including the parts to purchase. Buy what you can afford to each month. It will take a while but eventually you will have all your parts. It helps if you do your research so your not buying the wrong parts and have to sell/trade/replace them later. And if your doing h/c, wait until close to the end to buy the actual heads and cam because you will likely change your mind a few times. But you can go ahead and buy headers, intake, fuel injectors, lifters, chain, pump, etc... It's taken me 6 months to accumulate all the parts needed for a h/c swap. Now I just have to find time to install it all.

Best thing you can do right there.

I am married with one kid. Everything you see in my sig happened before the kid. You just have to patient. I'm waiting to see what the tax return looks like with a kid. CHA-CHING!!! New 9" with 4:11s!! You just have to chip away at it. That being said....

Making impulsive credit card purchases will only lead to disaster.

I'm in the same situation. The car is almost paid off, and once I eliminate a few little debts, I am going to either get some work done to my car or look into an 03 Cobra. I have a little girl on the way, though, so it may be awhile.

I studied hard, worked my *** off in my training with almost no pay and tons of nightshifts until....I became a Neurologist. Still, the house, wife, kids get the most out of my income!!!

That is golden advice.

When you get older, married, kids or kid on the way you have to think about priorities. My wife and I are both professionals. I would love to take a lump of money and spend it, but I can't and won't. All those things will come in time, but my wife and the little girl on the way are worth all that money and more.

Plus...yeah, I would love to do some work on my car. I drool when I see a ZO6 or Cobra, but...you know what? I have fun in my car, and thats whats its about, right?
