Default A Trade? what would you do

well as it goes right now i have a 2002 WS6 6sp....its a great car with 45,000 miles on it...has great power and is pretty much everything i would like in a car...my mods are in my sig and i ran pretty good times at the track...here is where it gets tricky

i have been spying a LT1 style camaro that turns out to be a 93....it is painted sunset orange metalic with black hockey stripes and black rims(very sharp car) ...i met him at the track and noticed the car has a good bit of mods to include a cc306 cam, a built 700r4 by www.not-a-sponsor.com with a 3000 stall and all the supporting mods....he ran a 7.7 at 92 mph that night....

his car went up for sale here in the past week and we talked about making a trade....the only reason i would consider a trade is because #1 i love the look of the LT1 style camaro and in general i like the camaro styling better then the trans am (i know i know)....#2 his car is 90% to where i want my car to be in the future...#3 we agreed on a sum of money (5000) that could potientially knock out most of what i owe on this car....and i would loose a 200 dollar payment a month...

now the downsides to this whole ordeal....his car has alot more miles on the bottom end then mine 150,XXX vs 45,XXX, his is almost 10 years older, i would be loosing the 6 speed but picking up a stalled built 700r4,

what would you guys do?

if i picked to take his i would throw a 12 bolt under it... forge the bottom end and add a sonoco hood and a SS spoiler and be done with it

if i kept mine i would have payments for a long time, have to add the cam heads, nitrous, forge the bottom end, buy a 12 bolt, rebuild the t56, and paint it to be to where i want it ....what would you guys do in the end?

thanks for the help

Its all a matter of taste and what you like. But do remember the LS1 in your WS6 has a lot more potential than the LT1 in that camaro. You always could sell yours an make probably 15-20k depending on the condition, and then buy a LS1 z28 from like 98 or 99 for less than 10k in good condition. That would get you out of debt real fast.

haha just dont huh....i am really starting to rethink what i am looking for in a car...my car is pretty potent as it is...i just think its going to cost more to get it to where i want it then it would cost me to get that car to where i would want it....oh well only time will tell....anyone else have any thoughts on it....

i just sold my pretty modded '96 LT1 Camaro(6 speed) and got $8,700 for it. I then went and bought a '98 Vette and i'll NEVER touch an LT1 again. I had more trouble with that car in the last 4 months that i got sick of it. Found a deal on my Vette and haven't looked back. Trust me, the LS1 motor is a much better platform to start out on and they aren't really more to mod then an LT1. Parts are MUCH easier to find on the LSx motor's then the LT's. Keep the T/A trust me....

Like someone else said above, if you like Camaros better, just get an early LS1 Z28 and sell the WS6. You'll probably have $5-8k left over after you do the swap to mod it with.

That's sort of what I did. I sold my WS6 for MUCH more than I paid to get a comparable condition Z28. But I didn't really have any intention of using the extra money for mods, I really just wanted to get a Camaro instead of another Trans Am. Just decided that I like the Camaros better too.

I agree that i tend to love the subtleness of the Camaro's better then the T/A's. I'd love a WS6 but they are very LOUD looking. Camaro blends in better except to the people that realise what they are. I'd say do as said, sell the T/A and get an early LS1 Camaro and be done with it. You won't regret it. I mean you could get a '97 Camaro and swap in an LS1. Then you get the older front end you like, Get the better interior from the '97+ camaro and then with the money you save you can sell the LT1 in it and it's MUCH easier to swap the LS1 into the '97 as compared to the '93-'96. Or that's what i've heard....
