It's all about the handling and braking. Its not that much faster straight line. The vette has independant rear and we all know every time you change the direction of torque it is reduced. The F-body has an advantage for drag racing it is in the straight axle rear end. Only one directional change of torque instead of having four cv-joints to transfer all the torque. The vette is fast and alot more fun on the twisties. Have fun....

My opinion Vette=GM Sportscar light fast good for twisties
F-Body=GM Muscelcar/ Gran Torismo with the Power of the Top Sportscars for normal working people. fast and with aftermarket suspension also good for twisties
So you must decide what you love more Vette or F-Body with light to mid mods.
If you like the C6 mor from the design and all go for the Vette
If you an F-Body entusiast mod them a little more and you will be also lucky
I personality love the F-Body more

I messed around with one a little bit around here...just kinda gunning it when he went and vice versa through a gear or two and I can personally tell you that the C6 is not completely out of a full bolt on LS1 F Body's league. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have a C6 than 10 of my current cars, just saying. What's the average, real world trap on a stocker C6?

IMHO..the Vette was alot faster. On my Z28, I had an A4, y-pipe, and LM. Didn't have the headers. I really don't think there was a comparison between the two of my cars. Wished I could have kept both but I've always wanted a Vette so that's the way I went. Good luck with your decision and don't listen to all the Vette Hata's

The Corvette is about a second faster in the 1/4 mile than an A4 Z28. It will also feel faster since you sit lower to the ground, the car is lighter, and it's more stiffly spring.
I think this thread is such an argument because people have differing opinions on what 'alot' faster is. To me, 'alot' faster is about a 1 sec. difference in 1/4 time and maybe 8-10 MPH in trap speed. A stock LS2 vette will NOT be able to beat a bolt on LS1 F-bod by nearly that much, if at all. I've seen many LS2 Vettes dyno around 345 RWHP. That is easily surpassable by a bolt-on LS1.

To the OP.....the vette will feel so much faster......I have a 6 speed 2002 Z28 with the mods you see in my sig and my buddy has a 2005 A4 corvette with just a vararam and his car's acceleration is sick.....my car doesnt even compare, go test drive one and you will see what I mean, just find a straight away, stop and floor it and the car will put you in the seat

from your opinion, it's obvious that you have no concept of speed. it's all in your mind. the vette will hardly BE any faster. if anything, the vette will feel faster because of the way you sit in it compared to the f-body. don't be an ***. i have the slowest LS1 f-body made and it throws you back in your seat if you're in its powerband

Where are you getting that he has an M6 car? Are we talking about the original poster? He has an A4, and without a stall I assume.
FYI for those who were wondering about the info... Currently the fastest C6 runs posted to Corvetteforum are as follows--
Showroom stock
12.21 @ 115.45 - 06 A6
Bolt ons
11.62 @ 117.48 - 05 Z51 A4 - CAI, catback, headers, converter, tune, DR

okay, so the OP has an A4. because of that, we can only assume he's going to get an A6 corvette. if he's rocking an automatic now, he will probably want an automatic corvette. now, i don't know if he has a 3.23 rear or a 2.73 rear, but that being said, we're comparing a low to mid 12 second car to a mid to high 12 second car. there's probably a difference in ET's of .3 - .4 or so. that's not a huge difference by any means. if you are beating someone in a race by .3 - .4 seconds, you're beating them by around 2 car lengths. to say that is a "huge" difference is absolutely ridiculous.
will it be faster? yes, it'll be faster, but a 12 second car isn't exactly super fast to begin with. it'll be noticeable, but IMO not worth going into debt over. throw a cam in the camaro and you'll eat a C6.
