On the salt flats I hit 159mph 500rpm short of redline in 5th in my WS6. 6th dropped to 150mph @ 3500rpm and would not acclerate. The flats alow for 80% of the car's ability. Wish that I was running n2o

These guys you work with are completely retarded, well maybe not but they could be since they aren't listening to you....here is some proof for ya.

Tell em you got this from an AF guy. It says it's rated a 160 in the ss and the z28 if it came with z rated tires.

I've had my SS up to 162 several times. If I'm not mistaken... the 4th Gen Fbody LT1s w/o Z-Rated tires were limited at 140mph, but that's from memory.
Tell them to shove it up their ***. Corvettes, Camaros, Trans Ams, GTOs, Vipers, and some Mustangs are more than capable of 150+ MPH.

These children say this because there dads lied to them. Both dads are cops. I know great grama's that have been topping 150 in stone stock cars since the 1950's. Gay cops cannot be trusted. F-bodys with Z-rated tires have no speed limiters. They are faster in 5th than 6th (power limited in unmodified form)

Gonna have to disagree there... I've felt my speed limiter, and mine is a true SS that came with Z rated tires. You have to tune out the speed limiter.

(lol)I am not going to get too hostile with them(they are friends),just slightly ignorant friends...when it comes to performance cars.

This post is right. They do have a speed limiter, even with Z-rated tires, but it's not until 162-163mph.

in my formy..*undisclosed road* i have hit 160 at the top of 5th gear..shifted into sixth and watch the RPM's run to 3K and had to back out due to lack of upcomming road..that was on 3:73 gears *richmond* and a lunati cam with a tune by vengeance Racing...
I dont know what 3K rpms in 6th gear is equal to..but at 6500 in 5th it's 160 so somebody do the math....

Just take them for a ride. Then ask them when they have had enough.

I hit 140 in mine and it had plenty left. Man, I even hit 135 in my brother's skittle. I think it would go faster than that but I didn't want to get hit in the knees with a piece of the crank!

I've done over 145 with my car when it was stock, ran out of road, and I'm SURE it will do more, especially now with my mods, but I haven't been able to do a top speed run in a while.
And yes, most 4th gen f-bodies are governed around 160, give or take a couple mph's.

Well,I did get one guy to change his mind.I showed him that some f-bods came with H rated tires and had a governed 115 mph speedo. However, the more common Z28 had the Z-rated tires and a 150 speedo and top speed of around 155-160.The other guy swears up and down that he is still right about the law governed 115 MPH.What is worse,is he is a fellow 63b(light wheel Mechanic). You would think he should know this stuff.

My brother has a 97 Z28 and he hit 155MPH in it. Not sure where the limiter was, but he had it removed.

I've been over 130 in my Z, but I have no limiter. After my mods I may take a gander at her top.

I will be in some race in Nevada, which is 0-200-0. Should be fun.

Your friends are wrong, but there are limiters put on cars. I just don't think it is federally controlled. I could be wrong though.

Have you shown them yet with your car?

Josh
