I had my old camaro which had 2.73s completely pegged and then some...it pulled the harddest from 70-100 and from 130+ (on 3 or 4 miles of clear road....just in case someone wants to ragg on me for speeding)

I shift at 6700 rpm and I my rear tires are 26.7” tall which I did not originally take into account. I guess stock f-body tires are shorter and I didn’t know your rev limiters were set that low.

C5s have much better aerodynamics (especially at top end speeds) than f bodies. So even if he had the same gearing and actual power, the Vette's lower cd acts like more power at the wheels.

So was yours at one point in time, but upgrading the valvetrain is a given if you want to increase RPM in a LS1. Not to be rude.

Surprisingly stable for a stock car actually. Some suspension would probably still make a world of difference. I would never recommend doing it on anything other than a straight road, at that speed, even a slight curve seems crazy....dont ask me how I know.

Yeah... I've had it up to that 162 mark a few times (with the original SS spoiler which may or may not add some downforce... I'm no expert). The first time it was straight the entire way and it seemed very stable. One of the last times, there were some very slight curves on the highway, and even riding the center of two freshly paved lanes, I was feeling a little scared. I definitely was wishing the car had been lowered at that point. Much more stable than a lot of other vehicles I've been in at high speeds, though.

Edit: Never do 120+ with the t-tops off... lol.

My car on dyno did 151 in 4th gear. Might be the 6800 rev limit however. I've had it up to only 140 on the road, and 135 on a track. Lots of room left just dont feel comfortable going that fast on a public road...Too many variables.

I agree but you did 140, might as well done 160...doesn't feel much different as long as you are going straight and 140 would be just as fatal if anything were to happen. My car always felt smooth when I did it, except for loud noise by the window seals. I used to drive my car to the limit alot a while back, specially if I was racing, but one day I thought about a tire blowing and I haven't done it since, made me kind of nervous because accidents happen and the only thing worse than losing your life in an accident is taking an innocent one with you.

I have figured out the Math needed to calculate closer to what the top speed of an F-body is taking accoun the drag at the higher speeds (ignoring road resistance due to tire contact - considerable at higher speeds)

Here is what you need

- Dyno graph or #'s of your dyno in your top speed gear (not 4th gear)
- The speed at a given RPM from your Dyno run .

Using

Drag of 1995 TA (0.34)
Density of air at sea level at regular air temp 0.076474203 lbs/ft^3
Frontal Area of 1995 TA 22 ft^2
The Top Speed = Speed at RPM - Speed reduced by drag
The 0.01136 is 60/5280 to convert to MPH
The .57 is the Pressure, Area, drag multiplied and simplfied

Simplifying things out
Actual speed - speed on Dyno at RPM - Speed lost due to drag

So
Top speed (F-bodies) = Speed at RPM - [sqrt((2*D)/(0.57))*0.01136]
)

D = the Torque at the specific RPM

Best one can do without the 2 graphs from a dyno for a given Gear

Speaking for stock, and rev limiter is NOT a valid reference for shift point. At those speeds that tires are generally a little taller also, so I guess the math isn't exact. It's been said that tires can be up to 1" greater in diameter at those speeds than sitting still. Math isn't as valid as real world data for reasons like that

who has been near wide open in a automatic? you also have to think about 2.73 and 3.23 gears

If they are both still equipped with the governor, they will both do 162 mph.

my A4 pegged the speedo on the dyno the other day, and the dyno reported 166...and 2.73 gears.
