SS Model Question
There is a 99 SS for sale at a dealership where i live but nada.com doesnt have SS as an option for that year, they have it for 98 and 00 but not 99. Was there a SS in 99 and if so how much would one be worth with 31k leather power everything and chrome ss rims. I believe they want $16900 which i thought was a bit steep.

There was an SS that year. That's weird how it isn't listed on NADA. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $11-14k for that car ($14k being 100% stock, original owner traded in, perfect paint, mechanically sound, etc.). FYI: KBB was around $12-13k. Good luck.

A dealership would be hard to talk down. And for that price, and miles, if the car is clean that dealership would get around 16k for it anyway. I'd offer 15,500 first.

did anybody notice what he said? black side view mirrors? didn't the 98-02's just come with mirrors that are the same color as the car? I thought so...
and also... I just bought a Black 99 SS with chrome ZR1's, an extra set of polished ZR1's, brand new tires, 35k, leather, M6, 12-disc changer, 100% stock from the original owner with a car cover, even the window sticker from 99. awesome paint and perfect mechanically. I paid $14,500 because thats the lowest he would go from his asking of $15,000 and it was the EXACT car I wanted.
I would say check out the mirror thing first. It might = replaced or wrecked and the dealer coulda got it from an auction.
Its deff. not worth $16,900. Look in the classified here at what you can get for $16,900. The most I would pay is $14,000. The only reason I paid $14,500 for mine was because of the cover, extra rims, brand new tires, and because I bought it from the original owner (older guy with 4 kids and a wife) and it had a perfect babied past.

And the price seems reasonable if it's a dealership. No doubt they left some room for bargaining though,

it has red door handles. i think the first 2 years of a new body style have black tops 93 and 94s' have black tops but my 97 z28 and my 96 ss had matching color tops i'm not certain about 95s' they may have done the same thing with the 98 and up. I called the dealership and they said they would take no less than 16900 i ask what made it so special and the only thing he said was its the only one for sale around here. I just replied but its not the only one in the world. then i ask what car # it was and he said "how can you tell" i dont know about 99s but my 96 has a plaque that says car no.1222 he said it didnt have one

The dealer will try to screw you, I got my 01 for $15 with 22K miles on it, from a private first owner, search and you'll save!!! As a matter af fact I know I guy down here in FL( an older guy 60's) is selling his 02 SS with 45K miles on for 13K, dont even have a scrach on it, look around, I wouldn't buy anything from a dealer unless it was brand new, unless you really liek the car and dont care about the money.

Keep looking, I'm reminded of when I bought mine. I don't think I'd even go $14k on that one. Better to get an 01-02 that already has the LS6 intake for that price. That dealership will try to BS you 100% of the way. Buy from a private seller, and don't go over KBB price.

Personally, I think you can do better than $16900. That is not an atrocious price, though. If you can afford to be patient, offer something in the $13k range and leave them your contact info. That is assuming the car is in excellent condition with a good history.
