Bought my 2002 Z/28 convertible loaded with every option with only 17,000 miles in perfect condition & totally stock. It even smelled like a new car. Original owner was a middle aged woman that bought it new & kept it parked in an air conditioned garage. From the looks of the under side of the car she must not have ever drove it in the rain cause everything looked clean , even the shocks were bright yellow & blue with factory marking everywhere. The asking price was $19,995.00 back in Aug. of 2005. Faniggeld the price down to $17,995.00 . Best money I ever spent.Big heavy Vert runs low 13's at 105 MPH with just a lid & muffler , GC synthetic & ( Z-MAX ). 19 in town & 26 hwy. I had been lookin for a long time for just the right color [pewter] , had to be a Vert. with black top & leather & automatic. Found it in Texas one day on the net. So keep lookin till you find just the right car!

I dont think f-bodies are overpriced at all. I got my 02 z28 with 64k on the clock, fully loaded, for only 11,500. Now look at a 2002 mustang gt with the same miles, you will probably pay about 13-14k. Whatever you do, DONT get a 95-99 mustang, you will be disappointed.

Not overpriced at all

I got my very clean Z28 with 41k miles for $13,000. And that was four years ago.

2V Mustangs are dogs. My Girlfriends gotta 99 GT convertible and she swears it feels like it's goin backwards when she hits the gas in her car as compared to my Hawk. It's just doesn't have the torque or HP of a Fbody. And her car tends to break alot too. More time under hood of her car than my 95 T/A or my Hawk combined! Save your cash and by a nice clean low to mid mileage Fbody and you will not be disappointed!!

When I seen my now car sitting inside on the show room floor at a used lot. 99% of what I wanted. I told him I'll buy it for $10k out the Door, Cash Sale. I did all the leg work with my bank so dealership only had to complete the sale by taking my Bank Check and hand my keys.
Window Price on the Car was $15,000 for a Clean 1998 Trans Am w/68K
I paid $10K including Tax,Title,Plates,Doc

As its been said before look at the time of year your looking to buy. Keep looking and wait until around Fall when you might find someone that Really needs to move that car and doesn't want to sit on it another winter. I have always been told to buy Cars in fall/winter and Buy Trucks in Spring/Summer. Any Make/Model can be over priced. Look up a 4x4 Truck a month or 2 before winter is here!

DAMN. You talked them down quite a bit. Personally I was fed up with dealers asking $16-$20k for 98-02 Z28's (not even SS). This was 2.5 yrs. ago, but the private market was more in the 10-14k range for a 50k mile LS1 F-Body then (Spring '05).

If I would get the Stang, I wouldn't mod it, just drive it till I get a Camaro.

On a side note, whats a decent Stand forum?

Not that I would like to offer him more money lol, but where do you guys find these great deals?

No price is too high for a 4th gen F-Body. The best musclecars ever made.

I bought mine 2nd owner in 2005 for $24,000. It may have been overpriced a little but for what I got I've enjoyed every dollar spent. 2002 Ws6 Ram Air Black with leather and all the goodies. It had 30K on it when I bought it. Best car I've ever purchased.

I don't plan on selling mine either. Hopefully I will own it until the day I die. Just like my uncle who is the original owner of a Black 1966 Chevelle 396.

The best musclecar ever made is the new ZO6. But for a small fraction of the price you can buy an LS1 f-body, build it all out and still have money left over to buy a used ls1 vette as a daily driver. Sorry guys but best bang for the buck will always be the 86-93 foxbodys(lightweight, powerful, fun, good handling, stylish, and bulletproof). If Chevy would have kept the weight down and I don't know put a decent rearend in a V8 Camaro that opinion might change. Coupe foxbody's are the best buy right now as their value is starting to increase....like you said as an investment until you can buy and/or build the perfect lsx F-body.

I agree most are overpriced. I don't know who they sell them to because
most of them for sale are at or near twice the blue book value. I have a 99 formula.
I think the price of formulas are usually reasonable but prices of transams and camaro ss are through the roof.

Default pricing

For the most part I feel that F-body's are modestly priced... probably the best hp/looks/price ratio...

on the other hand when people do their mods then try to sell them for 30K.. thats when i laugh to myself and shake my head as i ponder what drugs their taking hoping one day i can get the same kind for myself.

I was on another forum a month or two ago and read and replied to someones post, but for some odd reason, it showed my message before his.

The guy wanted to know which planet I was on.
