The iron versions of the block are associated with the Vortec name, but they're still LSx engines. Not to make that any more confusing.
The one thing I never did figure out is why GM used the Vortec moniker for the ASA spec racing engine. No LSx engine in any passenger car has ever been called by the Vortec name.
