I have a 1998 trans am and i love the car to death. however 98 heads did make the least amount of power compaired to 1999 and up. But thats why the frase "Head and Cam Swap" was formed cause thats next on my list.

If I had an option of buying a '98 or a '01/'02 for an equally fair price, I'd pass
on the '98 every time.

LS1,2,6 its all the same ****. Depending on how much mods r done is what counts. Heads, Cam, Gears, Tune. the result is based on the right combination & how well its done. That black thing you see down there is a freakin rocket ship. I luv my 98 and Daisy does too!

As everyone has said 98 had an inferior ECM, coil packs bolted to the heads, the worst flowing heads of all years, and a slight oiling issue due to the block. The 98 however does have the 28.8 injectors and a slightly larger cam. I loved my 98 but if I were to get another f-body it would be an 01 or 02. JMO.

Hahaha I thought my cam only bolt on car was fast at 375 rwhp...that is until I met my first pullied cobra, whippled cobra, and medium cam/150 shot trans am...you learn how slow your **** is very quickly these days with cars (like yours) running around making 600+ rwhp!

98's could well be the bastard child year for ls1 fbodys however, my ride has pulled cammed + bolt on 02's at the track & i'm not even cammed or a tune yet.....she runs strong times but weak dyno #'s....oh well

not if your comparing it to a KB cobra lol.

Well, ive had both. I bought 98 z28 A4 with 65k miles in january of 2006. I sold it for a 2001 M6 with 29k miles in july of 2007. My 98 was a great car, but i do like my 01 better. things like, LS6 intake, no egr, little stuff like that. Like unit said if you can afford an 01-02 id take it every time but if your short on cash like i was when i bought my 98 its not a bad car at all. i cant really compare speed because of the A4 w/3:23's vs. M6 w/3:42's. the m6 is definetly faster though.

I sold my 98 because it just felt like it was getting old. the leather was wrinkling, my a/c compressor broke (900$ fix), both my window motors were on there way out and it had nearly 100k miles on it, i was just waiting for my tranny to go or something else very expensive. i saw a good deal on an 01 so i jumped on it. i loved my camaro but i wanted a newer one.

My car is slow, which is kind of why I'm laughing at his "rocket ship".

That thing running 6.90's @ 210+mph or something?

this car runs in the 11s. My partner and I have an alchohol 67 vette that runs pretty consistantly in the 7s. But Im not allowed to drive that anymore.

Ok...so that's all straightened out then.

Nice looking car though.

Rocket ship = < 7.0 seconds (IMO anyway)
