Well, a friend and I were discussing these. He claims that the "T" in LT1 is for "terrifying" and the "S" in LS1 is for "scary". If thats the truth, wtf. Why can't the LS1 be named something cool? I think they should be LH1. "H" as in "horrendous".

Yes, teh LT1 sounds mean than the LS1 when you think of just the names.

 

Your all dumb... mod for mod an LS1 will always come out on top over the LT1...doesnt mean that there arent faster LT1s...I proved that MANY times in my LTx trans am... but again the LS1 is far superior than the LT1..and coming from someone whos owned 3 LT1s and now an LS1 mazda..im much happier with the LS1.

When ever there is an LS1 there is an LT1 staring at its tail lights. No seriously, I would prefer an LT1 myself, but the LS1 is one of the most advanced pushrod engines in the world. Hands down.

This thread is stupid. Its as simple as thats what GM wanted to name it when they created it, and they cant just call it "the engine that goes in late model 4th gens and vettes" they had to call it somethin so why not "Lt1" or "LS1".....

And even if GM did have it stand for something why would they pick words as gay as scary and terrifiying. If they named it after anything it would most likely be somethin technical that would be over people who think this crap's head. A perfect example is honda and the "VTEC" It doesnt mean "very tremedeous economic car" It means somethin worth a **** "Varriable Timming Electronic Control"
