Default anyones car do this?

being from the great state of Florida, and it being the lightning capital of the world I have this question...

does anyones car alarm "go off" when lightning strikes...now not the thunder but the actual lightning...mine does a 3 sequence beep and then you hear the thunder...just curious if anyone else has noticed this? does the electricity in the air set it off?

discuss.

Mine has done it quite a few times from a good hit of lightning. I'd see the flash, and the alarm will go off with the electricity, not with the clap of thunder.

Mine didnt start doing it until I turned up the sensitivity level on my alarm. But now it does it all the time. Its almost like the car is scared of lightning.

Yep, mine has done it for years. Doesn't do it in every thunderstorm though. Has never happened when I was driving, so it does seem to be an alarm-related thing. I usually laugh at it, unless it is the middle of the night.

How do you turn up the sensitivity?

Open the hatch and there is a little plastic box attached to the wheel well where the spare tire is. There is a dial on it. I dont remember which way turns it up though. You might have to remove a sticker to see the dial.

Mine has only done it once, and that's because it was the thunder was VERY close. It has never gone off just because of lightning.

I'm pretty sure cranking it to the right (tightening a bolt) is up in sensitivity and (loosening a bolt) to the left is down in sensitivity. I just unplugged mine all together. It's too annoying, plus I live in a nice, quiet area so I don't need it.
