I hit 160 in a 79 TA with a buddy once. I bet him his Dad's 455 powered TA wouldn't do it. He proved me wrong. The front windshield was distorted so much we thought it was going to break or pop out the t-tops. The slight differences in the road made us feel like we were in flight. Adrenaline rush X1000. We were 16 and bulletproof then though...
I don't care for speeds in excess of 130 now, just like to get there as fast as possible.

Every push the window and see how much play there is with that in the weahter strip? When the become older they dont seal good at those speeds and blow out.
They would blow up, but they lift off the seal so much it lets alot of air rush in
Did that on my DSM, off the speedo at 145mph and keep going( No GPS so im not sure what I was doing) But me and my freind were neck and neck and he was reading past 155mph in his WS6 so im going to assume we were at around 150mph? Or so again no GPS
But my sunroof blow out, and opened a lil bit

best i ever did was 145 the road is a 1/2 mile straight, actually it's the shortest interstate in the world lol. from a 20 roll to 145 was at most a little more than a 1/4 mile, i'd like to do a top speed run but there is nowhere safe enough.

If this guys sig is accurate. 400ish HP on a Mustang Dyno yea he can do about 177 MPH like eating cake.
180 should be possible for him at that HP level. But 185 would take nearly 45 more hp.
I wouldn't try it personally. Not without some new tyres and better brakes. Hell of a rush I bet.

I got up to about 150 in my GTO before I sold it, then I let off. I'm not a fan of high speeds, I get so nervous!
Fastest I've ever gone was 160+ in my buddies 500+whp 03 Cobra. The speedo was pegged at 160 but it just kept pulling thru the RPMs. I'm gonna guess we were going 170?
There are waaaaaay too many deer in IL to make me ever feel remotely comfortable about top speed runs.

The rpms was in the high 5 k range couldnt be to accurate i was watching the road. As far as going any faster my f bodys windows is only rated at 172

They'll tell you how everything "ran 12's off the showroom floor!" or how it was detuned from the factory and "only needed a timing change to pick up 100 extra hp!" Then they inevitably go into how "underrated" the manufactures hp figures were. Puh-leeze.

Torque and 2.43's = speed. And they had 160 mph speedo's too.
2.43's and 28" tires could do 160 mph at 4900 rpm.
Anyways it's pointless to argue something you can't prove.

Who said this was a stock car??? The STOCK motor was a 403 Olds dipshit, the 455 was a 650HP crate motor. His Dad ran 10s in the damn thing, it wasn't his car (read the post). We just wanted to see what it would do one night while his parents were gone.

I was at 150 today, every time I'm there the windows pull away a little. This was the first time I did it on a not perfect road either and the car still felt confident. 4th gens are way stable than the 2 3rd gens I had owned. I want to get a GPS. No one on here can accelerate in 6th? I figured it was a limiter issue, when I shift to 6th the tach needle hovers around 4k and it feels like the computer is holding me back? I'm running 4.10 gears.
