Buddy of mine said that it could also be the sending unit taking a big ol crapola too! Because why would it start doing that when our cars only start showing some age? Unless it did it right off the factory floor I think it could be a mechanical issue which could be fixed.

mine stay on full for damn near 100 miles, drops between 3/4 - 1/2 randomly then goes to 1/8-E. Ive tried to explain to my dad that the gas gauge isnt accurate...so when he drives my car look at the odometer and fill up according to that. He ran it out of gas the other day....guess he didnt pay attention to what I said.

Gas Gauge works sometimes and others not at all.
After reading all these posts, I'm a little bummed that there's nothing that can be done. I am concerned though, that mine will sometimes not work at all. I will turn my car on (and yes, it returns the favor), and the gauge will stay at empty and not move. Then if I shut the engine off and back on again, it will jump and be somewhat accurate but mostly like those discribed above.

lol... I think I have the opposite problem every time when I fill up my car my gas gauge needle goes past F and gets stuck on the plastic. So I gotta tap the dash then it bounces back to a little over F.
