Question What You Guys Think

I found a 1998 Z-28 has 39,xxx miles, with an A4, hardtop and no leather. KBB is saying its only worth $7800, I don't think thats right. Would be happy to have your guys input.

That sounds about right depending where you live.

That seems to be a good price.

It does seem like a good price. Those are some good miles for a car that's almost 10 years old.

That's the KBB value, how much does the seller want?

The seller wants $9,875. It looks pretty clean from the pictures he has up.

Kind of off subject but, does color have an effect on the price on the car. I've noticed that some colors bring more money than others. I know that the SOM's bring more but, I've noticed that colors like red, silver, NBM, and black bring a little more money than colors like pewter and white cars do. Could just be in my head. IMO Silver is the best looking color on F-bodies, and that's the color of this car, just wondering if the color had anything to do with the price.

$9,800 seems like an average price(maybe even a little high for that year) but that's pretty good mileage for a car that old. If the car is in good shape that it will not be that bad of a buy. Just remember, if anything happens to the car, the insurance will go by the value of the car, not what you paid for it.

Offer 9k and see what happens. Either way sounds like a pretty decent price for the mileage.

In my experience KBB is a little low on really clean low mileage cars. Remember they don't have the car for sale and don't have to find one. If you think about finding a nearly new car for less than half of it's original list it sounds like a good deal. You have to decide if you like the car and what it's worth to you. It's always a good idea to do some bargaining with the seller but don't let greed or someone else's idea of a good deal stop you from buting the car you want.

Car should be had for about $8,500. 9.9k is outrageous for that much. Maybe if it was an M6 or had some mods, then maybe, but not for an auto. Even with those low miles.

^ Yup, get it over with. If you like what you hear, go for it. If not move on.

NADA shows clean retail for this car at $9800 and high retail at $10700. KBB seems to be below market in many cases. If this is a clean car with a clean title, clean CARFAX and no damage history it sounds like a fair price. The location can make a difference as some areas are lower priced for certain cars. Look at the car and drive it. If you like it, try to negotiate the price. It's amazing how much some buyers will come down. These low mile cars are hard to find and I'd rather pay top price for a creampuff than a low price for a runout POS that becomes a moneypit.

Edmunds prices it at $7300 for private party sale, and they are the most accurate, IMO. If you really want it, go up to $8k. He'd be lucky to get $6k trade-in, so you should have some bargaining power.

rk_2000_Z/28 made a good point about insurance.

Let's help F-BOD NUT buy a car. Since many people seem to think the price on this car should be $7500 let's have everyone who wants to sell a clean, never damaged, under 40,000 mile F-BODY for $7500 send him a reply with details so he can buy a nice car for a good price.

i think KBB and all the rest of them are all BS anyways on these cars, probly alot of others to but i've only really looked at these. all i ever see is underpricing on this car, but when you look at what everyones selling them for and especially dealerships, it looks as if EVERYONE is overpricing. with this car it's really a IF-YOU-WANT-IT type of deal. if it fits you and you can't find another, then it's worth it. if there's one down the road with a hazed headlight, scratch in the door, and has 60K on it for 2-3K less but you're set on that one, THEN GET IT.. but don't pay more then 9K
