Default OUR CARS DEF NO GOOD 4 the Rain

yea well i was drivin on the highway 2 days ago it was rainin heavy and my treads low on my back tires. I ended up fish tailing right on the highway and just missed the inside trailer of a 18 wheeler. The car from there proceeded to spin around onto on comin traffic. I just barely dodged 3 cars and continued 2 spin, where i almost hit a highway marker. I kept spinning and nearly hit a tree, until finally the car came to a stop in the middle of the muddy grass on the side of the highway. Luckily for me the car did not hit anything even though it spun like 13 times. I was only going like 70 mph but that real wheel drive in the rain is bad news. Im hoping i didnt bend my chasis because my front tires hit the inside of the front wheel well when making a right turn but they are fine when i make a left turn. Im hoping something is just up with my suspension. I still consider myself very lucky and im surpised my car didnt hit anything and recieve serious damage. Im finding out whats wrong with it 2morro i'll keep you guys posted. Def 1 of the scariest things thats eva happend to me... you guys think i bent my chasis even though i didnt hit anything?

If you have low tread ofcourse it's going to be bad in the rain.

Never drive in heavy rain at 70mph. I always slow down to 45mph or so.

Buy good tires, and learn how to drive in control in inclimate weather.

These cars have what we call torque. So it takes a little more finesse and control than your average econo toilet-box.

Heavy rain plus wide worn tires = loss of control with any vehicle, front or rear wheel drive. You and everyone else on the road are just lucky to be alive, so consider this cheap tuition for the lesson. Research has shown that hydroplaning increases well before tires reach the wear bars. Once high performance tires are less than 1/2 tread we need to consider replacing them soon.

Wow, i mean yea it is a little more of a handful to drive in the rain but its not bad. Just drive smart and there are no problems. These car have the power to break them loose at 70 plus but...just dont get on it derr... By the way if I came up behind someone doing 45 on the highway becuase of the rain I would be pissed. It's rain, not black ice or the end of the world.

BUY good tires not cheapies. I have owned 11 4th gen F-Bodies never really had to worry about going less than 55-60 in the rain.

as others have said, any wide worn tire will be bad in the rain. even on my truck. when i had worn 305's on it, it was a mess in the rain. but if you drive smart it is no big deal. if you are a good driver and know how to handle a car when it gets out of control it really helps.

and slow down to 45mph? no need to go that slow, you are kidding right?

Try 315 M/T drag radials, lol. I was going about 70 then it came out of no where, started pooring hard, I mean hard. Tapped the brakes for the cruize and slowed down big time, started hydroplaning bad but had complete control the whole time. There was a lil bit there where I had to slow down to less than 30 and coast on the shoulder. Moral of story drive for the conditons of the road. Even my turck, which is a low rider, has 295 street tires and I can't go 65-70 on the highway in rain. Be careful out there, its not jsut yourself you are driving for.

New tires will really help. I could feel my car want to let go and shimmy in the rain around turns and such on my old worn tires, but now with the new ones it has no problem in the rain anymore.

Any car with bad tread will have issues on wet roads, but add that kind of power to it and it really gets fun (as you found out).

Well duh its gunna do that with low tread. If you got low tread its just stupid to drive that fast in heavy rain.

I have BFG kdws's. They are good tires for the rain, I drove all the way home from school, 20 miles on highway during a consistant rain at 70mph, I wouldnt consider it heavy rain, but the car didnt budge an inch.
