Well to start, There is NO SUCH THING as a "2003" Trans-Am. Production ended in 2002. And 2nd your on an Fbody site. Duh!... Get a Trans Am!
Although I do Lust for an Azure Blue Mach1 5 speed with a Kenne Bell and a built short block with about 22psi of boost!

They are very close in power. T/A makes more torque, Mach One is a LITTLE lighter, heavier than a GT though cuz the motor is gigantic. I would get a GT or Cobra if your getting a Stang. Much more aftermarket as far as I've seen.
Theres other things to consider too. Trans Am is a bad *** American rocket. The Mustangs are fast, but designed more with "grandmas every day commute" in mind.

There is more aftermarket for the MACh than there is for the GT, cuz there aint sh't for the GT...Besides a GT will need heads and cams, to make the same power as a Bolt-On MACh.

A buddies old Mach 1 made 280ish rwhp stock. An 02 stock LS1 will make
300-325rwhp. The Mach's have a better suspension and will usually outlaunch all but the best Fbody drivers.
From a dig..... It's a drivers race assuming both manual tranny cars.
From a roll on..... The LS1 should pull a car assuming both cars have good drivers.

I say the 2003 Mustang all the way! If you can find a production model 2003 Trans Am, I'd like to see it. Otherwise, the Mustang wins by default.
There was only one 2003 Trans Am. The 2003 GM Performance Division Trans Am that debuted at the 2003 Woodward Dream Cruise alongside the fourth-gen "Sunoco" Camaro.
