It was the Lake (OLOL) in Baton Rouge. Parking lot right across from the hospital. The wife has to have follow up surgery in March, bet I don't drive the new one there this time!! I just still haven't figured out yet how it was gone so fast. The only thing I can figure is they got in it quick, and took their time starting it. (windows are dark tint). Thought it would die when you put it in gear if you don't have the right key???

If you have connections and a vin number you can get a key pretty easily, and the car would be gone in less than 10 seconds.

How well do something like GSM or GPS enabled alarms work????

If a car theif can guess what the vin number is from my donor LS1 car he would have to be the amazing Kreskin.

Looks to me as if the extra key fob you don't have and should have gotten when you bought the car is what made it so easy for whoever has it in their possession to find your car, unlock it and drive away.

Did you buy it from a dealer or an individual?

Makes me wonder about my car now. I only got one key fob and set a keys with my car. I bought it from a dealer though. Sorry about your loss man. I hope you find it and the people who stole it.

That video of the repo man seems to make all our efforts totally useless!
I've often wondered if we could hook up a line lock system to lock all wheels so if it were to be towed by two wheels the other two would drag, maybe smoke, maybe call attention to what is happening?
Sorry for your loss!!

I had an SS stolen out of my driveway when I lived in Hell...er, Slidell. No alarm, no glass either. Word around there was that they were getting vins and having keys cut. I was dreaming that they were laying dead and bloated in a gutter after Katrina, but I guess not.

That's sick.

At least my car is fairly safe in the parking deck, no room to maneuver a truck like that in there. Besides, no one would want my car anyway

I thought well backing into a spot and then setting the parking brake would help but looking at that video and seeing how they just drag it out far enough to grab the other end makes me think not. Maybe turn the wheels to make it harder at least...

ugh I really wish those people get caught.

I recently moved to a different state. After seeing this I've been backing my car into the driveway (the cars about 15 feet from the road). If I hear dragging noises you can bet I'm gonna be like that guy in the video sitting in his car while it's being towed down the highway.

Hey guys just now catching up......had to take my wife back to the hospital. May have to have emergercy surgery now......anyway, to answer a few questions, I bought it at a dealership (one owner car), one key fob and the hospital didn't have it towed, it was in a legit parking spot. I won't pull straight in to a spot anymore either. Not sure if that would help, cause if they are getting vins and cutting keys nothings gonna help. Didn't realize it that easy. Thanks for all the feedback. Now I hope they don't take my truck.............andy

mann sorry to hear that. i live in metairie outside of new orleans, i almost had it happen to my z28. it was a weird bc i was getting in my car leaving my friends apartment, i tried to start my car and it wouldnt start. Nothing went on, not even my lights and accessories. i popped my hood and couldnt figure it out, so i just got my friend to bring me home to mess with it in the morning. the next day when i came back, i noticed my T-top was popped up and i opened my passenger door and saw under the dash, wires were hanging out. so i knew someone tried breaking in and i had a police report under my windshield wiper.. a few days later, some guy in a red SS said "i know who tried stealing ur car" he told me that they're some guys that live in algeirs that have a backyard full of F bodies. after they take what they need off, they cut the cars in 4..i was pretty nervous when they were telling me all this..GOOD LUCK!
