you could always go bigger cubes...i dont see why that wouldnt be emissions legal as long as you kept all the stuff for emisions on it...but then again i could be wrong

hey man im out here in Ca too. my roomate passed smog (sniffer not visual) in his frc. He had a 224/224 and made 447rwhp with lt's, fast 90/90, ported ls6 heads, a pulley, and a really good tuner. The fast is a dead giveaway for visual but without if your not gonna have that all you gotta do is just keep the stock exhaust and swap it back on when you have to smog and do a lil retune. (that is if you cant find someone to "help" you out). Thats all you gotta worry about since the heads look stock, and youll never see the pulley.

trickflow heads and 90/90 and custom smog cam and you will be putting 440 to the ground or a little more.

I'm a Cali resident and went with a 224/224, but never smogged the car yet. I'm close to 400hp and am running stock heads but I do have LT's. I wouldn't go bigger than a 224/224 and you need to go with 114 LSA because 112 has too much overlap. LT's are illegal in Cali period regardless of if you have cats or not. I plan on throwing the stock manis back on or finding a shop who I can pay under the table to forget the visual. Vortech makes the only S/C kit I know that is 50-state legal. The STS definetly won't pass and you will get pulled over with it since its rear-mounted and obviously not stock.

Maybe i should just get a nova and sell the camaro... I really want to keep the camaro but it sux that i cant even break 400 hp. with a nova i could do whatever the hell i want to do w/ it and push 500+ easily bcuz i wouldnt have to smog it.

why do you think STS systems won't be legal? according to the STS site:

granted, that is coming directly from the manufacturer, so i'd still check the local laws first before plopping down several grand, but they're supposedly legal. after all, the STS kit doesn't require any mods to the exhaust at all until after the cats, so the cats are not moved from their stock location. if it's legal to use a cat-back, it should alos be legal to use the STS, as long as your computer is tuned to pass smog.
