400 hp in California
Ive got cut out, lid, and basically free mods. I was hoping to go for a cam as my next step, but i did a little research and found the most agressive cam i could get and still pass smog was 224/224, which i dont think will hit 400rwhp Also cant get LT's. I was just wondering if there is a way to get 400 or more rwhp in CA w/o boosting ie. spray turbo sc. Cali's smog regs suck

Now a days you can do anything, easiest way that comes to mind would be the TR CheatR cam setup which made 394 HP on a basically stock car. Here is the link below and you can just get the cam cheaper and not worry about the heads but that will lower the numbers some.

You might, there are some lt1 guys here with rather mild h/c setups that get are around there. I don't see it beyond the realm of possibility with an ls1. Best of luck and welcome!

No LT headers are pretty much 50 state illegal b/c they move the cats from there original location. It just sucks b/c cali is ALOT more strict with it, where as in most other states you can get away with it as long as there are cats there.

I think STS is legal on our cars. I don't know if I'm sold on them yet, but that may be an option. I was going to mention the cheater H/C package through TR too.
If you want to be 100% compliant in Cali', you pretty much can't touch anything in the emissions system or connected to it. If you get pulled over for LTs you could get a fine of up to $250 if you run with cats' and maybe more if the officer is sharp and in a bad mood.
I think Vortech makes a S/C kit for our cars, with their aftercooler, which will make 400+ RWHP and is CARB legal. Try looking into that too.

You're pretty much stuck with the power you'll make with a 224/224 cam out here. Some (very few) have passed with a 226, but it requires a good tune, and some luck IMO. And long tubes are a must If you want to get anywhere near there.
On the bright side, If you still do decide to keep it smog legal, a 224/224 will still make good power
