haha how bout a 2007 G5(Cobalt), 148 horses, 5 speed, 5 people in the car, tool box in the trunk, A/C on, full tank of gas.... Felt like driving a Tank without the firepower.

I noticed it before the cam, even more so with a cam.
The quicker rpm drops are the first sign, as far as launching goes, before when slipping the clutch on launch, I'd barely give it gas, but if the A/C was on and I was on even a slight incline, I'd try the same launch and almost stall. Changed my habit to kinda time to tap my foot on the gas at almost the instant it starts grabbing now so it's kinda not an issue.
With a cam, I find that if I forget to turn the A/C off and start the car on a hot day, 1/4 times it will stall.
If you drive a 98, be careful with WOT and having the A/C on. The ECM is set to not release the A/C clutch until 4000rpm. Throttle position is set by default to 100% which isn't possible so it will not shut off till that 4000rpm failsafe, but at that point, you've exposed your a/c clutch to your peak torque.
You'll know if your ECM is set properly if you can go WOT and feel hot air come out the A/C within a few seconds and still not be near 4krpm. Try WOT in 6th gear from 1500rpm to do this test. I have mine set to shut off with >60% throttle opening now.

My cammed car I notice a big difference in driving it around town. Its very sluggish to get going with the a/c on, I really didnt notice it before the cam though. Im thinking about getting it retuned with the ac on lol

You 98 guys can get the A/C compressor issue taken care of with HPTuners pretty quick. Also, you guys that are experiencing your car being slower at WOT with the A/C on, its all in your heads, the clutch shuts off at WOT so its like you turned the A/C off, no difference. As for the thread starter, I think it might be in your head also, however, if you want to be sure I guess you could always dyno it with the A/C on or off, may be a waste of money, but at least you'll know!
