Ohh enough already..
I am by far a GM die hard, but geezus enough is enough. You guys are like little school kids crying because someone pissed in your cheerios..
The LS1 IS an awsome engine by all means, it makes plnety of power and is simple.
What I am trying to say is GM is making its power from CI,and yes no replacement for displacement, but look at the Vette, its making 500hp from a 7L V8, while Ferrari is making about 480hp from a N/A 4.3L V8...Yes yes yes I know it revs to 8K rpm yada yada yada
I dunno bash me if you want, like I said I love the LS and I LOVE GM....but one day we are goin to have cams over top of those V8 heads...

However, the Ferrari you mention isn't that great. It's making 480 hp way up in the stratosphere with little torque and lousy average horsepower. It needs to stay wound up if it wants to go. What's more though, is that the 505 hp LS7 comes in a conservative state of tune. This is evidenced by the Z06's good gas mileage. One can't say the same about the Ferrari. Now if you get aggressive with the cam and some other things in the LS7, you can make similar hp/litre. Lastly, the whole HP/litre thing is kind of silly when comparing large engines since diminishing returns are a factor just like in anything else that involves scaling up.
As we all know, it's all about efficient reliable average hp/lb. So for now, the LS7 is king.

You can't even begin to compare a F/I setup and a N/A setup. Mustang or Camaro guys who do that are just beating a dead horse...no pun intended. N/A for N/A though with the 4.6 and there is no contest. Let's just stick to that until the LS9 is on the streets and then we can prove to them with concrete numbers that they are mistaken.

so i decided, since wike is soo easy to edit, i wanted to look up the ls1, and guess what?!? Some ford guy infected that too!
"The block is very similar to that of the higher-output LS6; beginning in 2002, some LS1 engines were actually built using the LS6 block instead. The LS1 was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 1998, but even though the ls1 is both larger and of higher compression, than the 4.6L 32 Valve Cobra Engine, it does not make more power. The SVT engine is clearly more efficient and superior to GM's outdated pushrod LS1."

You could have 10 years of exp with Detriot Diesels and edit the respective page, right? Then, some pos will edit it back to the false information and cuss you out.

personally i dont like mustangs. but i will give them credit for sticking with the game. they designed a car to sell, sell, and sell more. ford claims that they have captured the "essence of what owning a mustang is all about", but remember that the pony car came about because it was designed to be marketed towards women. nothing has changed. this argument between mustangs and f body cars will never end. thats why i beat them every chance i get!

I personally don't care about some stupid website's description of the LS1, especially if it is Wikipedia. That being said, I must admit that I am entertained by all of the efforts here to change it.
