I have read up on this alot, and I am sure other 1999 Camaro owners have experienced the same situation as me.
On cold starts especially, my dash cluster goes insane, every gage bounces around, and then returns to normal, nothing abnormal occurring with the actual car functions, but it does it on startup only. The trip odometer also resets.
On that note, I read up on some forums and saw that it was a complication relative to ONLY 1999 Z28 Camaros (may or may not be true.)
My question is, what is causing this complication and how do I get it fixed?

when my car was doing that (i also have a 99) i had a poor battery connection and my battery was pretty much dead.
Id check your charge on your battery and see if your connections are tight

I've had to 99s and the second was just fine but what you describe happened to the first. At the time it was still under warranty so the dealership just replaced the gauge cluster. No issues after. Funny thing though, the car went in with 14xxx miles and came out with 4xxx miles. Too bad I couldnt keep it that way, wouldve helped when I sold her! lol

Happend with my 99 T/A...only when it was REALLY cold out..like below 10*F
My gauges would all spike, and my Trip odometer would reset itself also..no big deal tho
