Default So I was at the shop...

I was underneath my car tryin to get the SLPeice of Crap Headers out, when I noticed out the corner of my eye, and old man standing by looking at my table full of parts, and looking under my hood. I looked over at him and he said "LS1, huh? That sounds like a Corvette motor." (I have the Whisper Motorsports lid that says "LS1" on it. I said "It is." He looked at me, then at my car, kind of confused look on his face, and I said "This motor came in Corvettes too." He said "Oh, ok" and began walking away. LOL, when he was walking away he still had a suspicious look on his face.

Maybe he is a underground street racer and he is scoping out all the cars in your town for his ricer buddies. When your back on the road everyone is gonna be pointing at you saying "thats the car with the Corvette motor!". Or when you try to race a ricer they will be like "no I ain't racing you...I heard that thing has a Corvette motor!"

lol, I don't know about the "ricer scoping out rides" theory, but I do believe he was probably an "old Corvette guy." This guy was easily in his 60's. And I doubt it was "Sarge", isn't he from Texas or something? I'm in Maryland. Anyway, I thought it was funny.

Yeah, Corvette fuel rail covers tend to confuse the older hot rodders too....they see that and almost automatically think you did an engine swap. Or they're a Corvette person, and they get mad because they think you have a Corvette engine.

Seeing as the LS1 is in the Corvette, Camaro, Firebird, and the GTO, I don't understand why they keep calling it the "Corvette engine." I don't hear people calling the LS2 a Corvette engine, but maybe because I don't own a GTO or CTS-V.

Because it's original intent was for use in the new C5, and it's first appearance for the public was in the '97 C5. Camaro, Firebird, and GTO were all just lucky enough to benifit from the engine as well. But the LS1 all started with, and for, the Corvette.

I beleive that GM had some test mule LS1s in '96 C4 vettes as well, or so I've read.

No, it's a Z28 motor. But SS's, WS6's, and Corvette's were just lucky enough to benefit!
BTW, 35thanniversary, I'm in Odenton, in the middle of buying a house in Glen Burnie.
