Can you jump a tuned car with jumper cables?
I know this is an insanely dumb question. But my battery just died (was messing with the headlightts for a while and I guess it killed the battery). I remember reading somewhere that its better to jump an fbody by popping the clutch?? dumb question I know.

jumper cables can cause problems with ANY car if you're not careful, or if you don't know what you're doing (you'd be surprised how many DON'T know how to do it correctly).....but it should be fine otherwise.
but as far as using the jumper cables, why go through the bother if you can push it, or if you're on a hill that you can get it rolling down? much quicker/easier that way.....

red to red / black to black.... let it set for 5 minutes or so, then turn the key...

now having said that, i've seen many cases where going directly to the terminals doesn't cause any problems, but that doesn't guarantee that there won't be problems.

yep, this is the "correct" answer. you're "technically" not supposed to put the negative lead of the jumper cables on the negative terminal of the battery that's trying to jump the other car.
on the car being jumped, the cables should go + to + and - to -. on the car doing the jumping, it should be + to + and - to chassis.
now having said that, i've seen many cases where going directly to the terminals doesn't cause any problems, but that doesn't guarantee that there won't be problems.

You should be able to go terminal to terminal with out any problem. The reason you should connect the last cable clamp to a ground instead of a terminal is: When you complete the circiut, there could be a spark. If the spark is directly over the battery, and ignites any flammable gases emitted by the battery, it could go boom. Generally, your face is in close proximity when this happens..........

Like said already, the only reason not to use the ground terminal on the dead battery is because of the explosive gasses that MIGHT be present that MIGHT ignite if the cable sparks.
