Default How much to pay for Ram Air hood

I have someone who is selling a Ram Air hood that is painted my color. The hood looks like a factory hood, if not it is a factory replica. I would have to pay to get it shipped here. Can anyone give me the price I should offer him for the hood and possibly a quote for the shipping.

Thanks...

Is it OEM or aftermarket? Because a aftermarket hood would be worth $250-$350 and an OEM hood would be worth twice that. Count on $200 ish to ship.

The poster above has it right. You're better off finding one local though, shipping is gonna kill any bargain you might find. Plus, factory paint might not match up on your particular car due to wear. Your best bet is probably to just buy an aftermarket one, especially when they go on sale, then have it painted.

Yeah I wouldn't bet the farm on the paint matching 100%. The only way I would do it is if you could get the hood cheap enough and could paint it yourself. Other than that I think the shipping and possible cost of re-painting it wouldn't make it worth it.

On a pewter car, probably! but If you can get it for 800.00 or so shipped you,ll be way better off than to put on an aftermarket hood because you"ll pay a body shop 400.00 to do it right! aftermarket hoods require alot of prep no matter how good they look plus the fittment issues that always accompany aftermarket body parts. Even if you have to have the oem hood repainted to match it will only be a repaint no real prep to speak of. It should only cost about 150.00 to repaint an oem hood.
Remember if somebody quotes you a lower price to do your aftermarket hood you"ll get what you pay for.

OEM 800.00+150.00=950.00
Aftermarket 400.00 400.00= 800.00

Also most (not all) dont have enough strength and support where the hood shocks mount and cause the fiberglass to crack.
Hope my opinion helps

The paint and supplies cost that much! I haven't seen an aftermarket hood that didn't require at least 4hrs prep time. It also needs to be baked in a booth before prep to cure it.
Do what you want but a 100.00 paint job is a 100.00 paint job!!

I had an aftermarket SS hod on my 94 Z and it looked good. But fit wasn't perfect and it looked and felt flimsy. When I changed the front clip to 98+ I scored a OEM SS hood. It is night and day different in fit and quality and worth any price difference.

I wouldn't buy an aftermarket one. I've seen some real heinous ones.
