Default LS1 OR LS6 intake?

Not to start another thread about this but i just picked up a 98 Vert SS from a member on this board, Listed in the info on the car was a LS6 intake but after reading a few threads looked at mine and it has that tube right behind the throttle body , In no way am i blaming the member i got the car from because he got the car in a trade and did not know the difference either. I just want to know how can i tell the LS6 intake with EGR that was available from SLP I hope thats what i have. Its on the Car so i cant look at the bottom to see if it is flat. Thanks for any info on this John..........

I am 99% sure that is not the ls6 intake. All LS6 intakes I know of have the egr delete.

Aright I thought I read that somewhere before, but wasn't quite for sure. That why I left myself with the 1% margin of error to cover my ***. Much like politicians.

A LS6 manifold from a car has EGR Delete. an SLP Manifold has all the EGR stuff so it's just a easy bolt on with no rigging up on it

Your next step is to get rid of the EGR. That tube sticking down into the front of the manifold takes up a lot of space that could be used for airflow. Not to mention how much prettier it is under the hood when all that crap is gone.

thats what the egr mod is for!! u cut the long pipe that sticks down into the intake! then your fine, when i get my ls6 intake i am also gonna use the egr kit from lingenfelter to adapt to egr, well only because i live in california, but i agree that it is alot nicer with out all that

i dont even think you need it.. just get the code deleted and leave the EGR off. i mean theres ALOT of camaros, trans ams, corvettes that have ls6 intakes without it.. i wouldnt see why it would cause a problem.

a cop isnt gunna come up to you and say..wait a minute..this year has EGR..WHERE IS IT?

i say take it all off, and leave it off

you dont need the egr, the newer model cars did not have them. mine came without the egr and had an ls6 intake.

i lived in texas.. and they care more bout cats then they do that stuff. i dont have it on my car. aslong as you dont have the SES light on. i think your fine without the EGR, and theres always somebody u can kick another 20 bux and they will overlook stuff
