Default Ls 327?

Has anyone combined the 4.8 crank and rods with the 6.0 pistons to make a 327 out of the LS motor? 4.8 motors can be had for cheap and Im sure someone could cough up a good set of used stock pistons and rods. Ive been thinking about trying this build alot lately, anyone know of this combo in use and how well/bad it works? With the short stroke of the 4.8 crank, it should be a good RPM motor.

The 6.0 has a bigger bore so you're going to have to do some machine work to the block, not sure how much you can open it up to make it work but im sure you knew that, just adding it in.

Why not just get a 325 LS motor (the 5.3 in the GMC/silverado's and many more)?

I really like the idea of a short stroke LS1.
Could be a Budget street machine if you do it right.
4.8 crank 500$ + machine work
6.0 block, junkyard material, + machine work

Now here comes the hard part, finding a nice set of rods, Im sure there is someone out there who makes a 6.287 rod.

Add a solid valvetrain and this baby will sing to 8K all day long, provided proper oiling.

If you're wanting to spin to 8k, why would you use stock cast pistons? Oh, and what are you planning to use for an intake? I would think with that few of cubes you can pull it off with a 90mm Fast, but I'm just picking your brain.

Im basing it off of the late 60's 327 with a 4.0 in bore and a 3.25 in stroke. Id use the 5.3, but I like the rev capability of the shorter stroke.

Yeah thats one question Im still looking to answer. How far can a 4.8l be bored? Would It be easier to use a 6.0l block? I don't know what the difference is between the two castings, if any (besides the obvious bore difference).

Ive seen setups with forced induction making well over 500hp, turning close to 7000rpm on the stock cast pistons. Im only looking to make around 400-430hp n/a. Theoretically, they should be ok.

I havent put much thought into the intake yet. I agree the 90mm fast would probabaly work good.

I should probabaly also state that Ive never actually built an engine. Im just looking at the numbers on paper and wondering if this would work. Theres probably ALOT of things im overlooking, so Im here with an open mind. If something I say sounds dumb, its because Im really just guessing. So ill take any info you guys have, and if Im wrong with something I way, corect me. Thanks.

I have a 4.8 sitting in my garage right now Ill sell you cheap. Its a complete motor with the harness. Its got about 90,5xx miles on it, pulled from a wrecked truck for a resto project. Ill give you a ls1 intake with it. $300 and its yours!

Stock 4.8 rods will suffice with a stock cd 6.0 piston

Why do you want a short stroke when all of the family can
safely rev to 7000RPM with minimal upgrades, and the PCM
pegs out at 8000RPM? What is the point?
