Default Anyone know the thread on how to take out vents?

How do I take out the side vents on a 98 trans am. I'm thinking about painting them instead of buying the chrome ones and I'm not sure if they just pop out or what. I think there used to be a small tutorial here but I cant rem.

I think you open the door and fit your hand between the door and the fender, squeeze the top and bottom tabs of the vent, and push out. I've never taken them out but just from the few glances at them that's the conclusion I've come up with.

When I got my stainless ones to put on I just popped them out. Very easy. No need to go inside fender. Atleast mine did?

So as in pop them out you mean use a screwdriver and pliers to pull them or do you mean open the door and go in to push the tabs in to push them out?

just stick a screwdriver thru one of the holes in the vents and just pull the screwdriver to one side and they should just pop out like nothing.

They are pretty strong, i wouldn't worry about breaking them.

Yeah, like that. I've taken them out several times that way.
