Began Hybernating the black beauty!
It was a sad day here in Ohio... I put the T/A on jack stands and pulled the cover over her. I'll still go out and start i every two weeks until march shows up, the snow melts and the salt is off the roads... I have only had her since the Wednesday before Thanksgiving so I haven't had to much time to get to drive her and putting her away for the winter kinda hurt... But come spring it will be time to eat rice!!! If you know what i mean!

I have done just the same with my car, mine went into storage at the beginning of december. I have put stabila in it, I have also put carpet underneath the tires, with the max cold PSI in them. This helps them from deflating. Any new mods come spring time OP?

Over the winter sometime I need to replace the head unit because the time/display on mine gets screwy after a while of driving. Other then that I am waiting on mods until I'm out of school in May. Then I'll have more money. I'm happy with the mods it has right now.

Well my baby is still out there tearing up the road here in florida. Its getting colder but never car storage cold. I guess its mean to say this when you guys have to store yours. So how long does the car stayed stored, and what are you using for transport

Mine has been in storage since mid september. It will stay there untill after ALL the snow melts, and the ice melt/salt has been cleaned off the roads with a couple good rains. This usually happens in march/april.

Never put a car on jack stands for prolonged periods. This is bad for the suspension, it should be kept loaded and not allowed to hang freely.
If you car is sitting on normal steel belted radials, just fill them to their max rated PSI (mine are 44psi), and leave it like that till spring. They will not flat spot over the course of 4-5 months, this I know from experiance; been doing that myself every winter with many F-bodies for the last 10 years.
If you have the car on racing tires that are super soft, or plan to store the car for a very long period of time, then there is a risk of flat spotting, and the best solution would be a cheap set of used wheel/tires to store the car on.

Why not hang them? I here different people say that and I hear others say they jack it up. Wouldn't jacking it up relieve any stress on the suspension and not let it get "memory"?

hi, i got a quick question for you. You wouldn't happen to drive through broadview heights by any chance? Because a few times this year maybe 15 mins before i would get home from work, someone in a black TA that looks like mine goes flyin by my house doin prolly twice the speed limit, and i get bitched at cuz the family thinks thats it's me doin it???
also, I do what RPMWS6 does. Inflate your tires to 44psi, and don't sit in on jackstands for that length of time. Suspensions like to be loaded, just like when welding subfram connectors etc. good advice

Haha... No thats not me but there is another one in my area here (Berlin, OH) and he is a speed demon. When most people got higher gears for their F-Bodies he went lower to get a higher top end speed... Might be him... Thats funny though...

Both SS's have been stored since late October. I just picked up the Z. I've got plans for two of the three cars, with parts on the way for one. I use the '06 F350 King Ranch as my winter driver/regular DD vehicle.

Vette went to storage in October and won't be out until April about. Also i agree to leave the car on the ground. It's MEANT to be there and not airborn lol they are setup to have pressure on them. I also have NEVER had a problem with tires flat spotting from sitting.~Cole~

You could put the jackstands on the rear axel housing and front control arms. That way it is "loaded" and the tires are off the ground.
Although I agree that you won't flat spot tires by letting them sit for 5 months.

I covered my car up for the winter just before Thanksgiving, and am now driving my '94 K Blazer. It sucks for gas mileage (14 mpg), but there is nothing I can't drive through. I love that truck, but really miss my car already. April is way too far away...

I also thought it was bad to start the car periodically while in storage unless you can take it out and get everything warmed up good. I just let mine sit until time to take it out in the spring. If it is a nice day and the roads are dry, then I may take it out for a quick spin but then it goes back in the garage. Hopefully by mid March I can get mine out.

i havent drivin my car but once since it first snowed in nov. i start her up every once in a while. i need to replace my clutch before i can be eating any rice haha but im with u there in spring

I reccomend a winter beater. My truck now is the 3rd Powerstroke that i've had. But before them I drove a '97 Escort wagon as a DD/winter beater. That car was dead ugly but would just keep on goin'. It got great mileage and cost nearly nothing to operate. I've still got the car parked deep in the recesses of the parking lot at work. I keep thinking I will get rid of my truck and get something different and then go back to using the wagon as a DD. It was so good to me the 2 years that I drove it I hate to get rid of it. She's still solid after nearly 230k! In high school I had a Geo Metro as a winter car when I had my '70 Chevelle SS. Another doggy/ugly car, but it was dead reliable and cheap. If you can scratch together a little extra $ a winter car is awesome...doesn't have to be a luxury ride either. Good luck.
