I got mine for 2900, 94 formula and it had about 156K on it, the clear coat was peeling in the front which i then repainted and the exaust had a small leak, those were the only problems plus a few electrical issues. over all after the repairs and what not I say the total initial cost was around 3900

LS1's are engines that do last and can take some abuse. Even at high mileage, they still run constant times and respond very well to mods. I saw one engine out of a supposedly tired 1998 Trans Am, that engine was pulled just to freshen it up, it didn't burn any oil, it didn't knock, it run perfectly good but it had 181,xxx miles. The guy has owned that car since new and I was very surprised to still see the crosshatch marks on the cylinder walls... car runs like it did before, except now he has the assurance of the new parts, like mains, rods, and piston rings, and gaskets.

The $4000 98 z28 I'm looking at has its share of issues. MAF is taking a dump, throwing a code for EGR & EVAP. Driver side window motor is dying as well. I'm going to go look at it tonight.

Grabbed my brothers 99 z28 m6 for $5k
129k on it. Had a few codes, a MAF cleaning, new TPS, powersteering pump, and 2 bypass valves later, its good to go.
Runs awesome! I'm actually kinda jealous, even though I love my 95 T/A m6 I got for 5k
I guess I'm willing to pay a premium for the T/A over the z28 though. They constantly seem to be 2-3k over the z28's in either form.

Nice. The car I'm looking at is a 98 z28, A4. It's that green color which you hardly ever see. It's got a lid, headers, exhaust. I know the EGR code is from the headers. I'm pretty sure the car needs a new MAF and I have no idea about the EVAP.

i would jump all over a 01 ta for 2900 no matter what. You could make alot just in parting it out. Even it it runs bad it would be worth putting a new engine in unless the body was just total ****. 01 ls1 pullouts still go for 3k on ebay...
